Castrol 5W30 over achieves.

I figured why not giive it a try and see how DINO performs in our motors. I do a lot of stop/go which consists of 70% streetsand 30% highway. I decided after my most recent oil change that I would switch to Mobil 5W30. I will send in another sample at my next oil change to check for differences if any.
Oil Tested: Castrol GTX 5W30 DINO (Non-Synthetic)

Cool, thanks for posting. I've used Castrol 5/30 in my last four cars (three VQs and a Toyota V8), and it's been great.

Ive been running Castrol since i switched to synthetic in this car. I ran a lot of Mobil 1 in the past but after the went to a class 3 oil i decided to go with the Castrol which i beleive is a class 4/5 synthetic. Cars ran great since. I changed the oil after 4k miles and the oil looked great.

pretty impressive, also EnviedG35 i was not aware that Mobil1 syn went to class 3, i always use synthetic, so do you guys think Castrol syn 5w30 is better than mobil15w30 considering its classification. Also i change oil every ~3750mi so no extended run problems.

thanks

Im gonna kick myself if I notice that the Mobil 5W/30 gives me the same or worse results compared to the Castrol.

If the Castrol dino is performing great, I seriously doubt going to anything else is going to net you anything significant in terms of wear protection or engine life. Not when you're swapping at 3-4K and NA

wow, thanks for sharing!!!

I was considering trying some synthetic when I hit 10K, now I might not since the report indicates it wont do much other than drain the pockets a bit more than DINO..... OP looks like you need to have your VQ cut back on the pretzels, seems like it has a bit more sodium than the universal average, j/k maybe that is a good thing.

Thanks Again!!!

Thanks for posting that up! I searched to see what dino oil people used on their G35 for their 1st oil change. I eventually chose the castrol 5w30 and it looks like i made the right choise. I will use it again for the second oil change before switching over to German Castrol.

I've always used mobile1 synthetic since the first oil change in all my cars.... i don't notice anything different about it, but i just use it b/c it's fairly cheap to buy (~22-25 bucks) so why not... Plus i try to change my oil every ~4-5K miles (I drive ALOT, 15-20k miles/year easily) so i don't want to change my oil so often with dino oil....
