Question about cabin filter

I bought the fram cabin filter for my 08 g35 and I installed it but I have a question. The arrow on the filter pointed down and the words read "airflow this direction" so I put it in with the arrow pointing down. Is this the right direction? because I know the Nissan filters have the arrows pointing up saying "this direction up" but when i turned on the fan to see which direction the air was going it seemed to be sucking the air down so I just want to make sure I put the Fram filter in the right direction.

thanks

Dude, check it out. http://www.infinitihelp.com/diy/gcou...eplacement.htm

I believe the arrow is supposed to be facing the rear of your car, and upwards. Infinitihelp.com = Good stuff.

I know that the nissan filters have the arrow facing up but the words are upside down when I put the Fram filter with the arrow facing up. So now the way I have the filter in it.. the darker side of the filter is facing down and the white side is facing up.. I'm very confused and don't know if I did it right.

Air flow is from top to bottom.

I thought my factory filter had the arrow pointing up when I removed it, so I positioned the new filter with the arrow pointing up as well, but looking at the attached diagram, it appears that InTgr8r is correct....air flow is from top to bottom, and thus the filter arrow should be pointing down.

And now on second thought, it's pretty damn easy to tell that the air comes flows from the top since the top of the filter gets dirty and the bottom doesn't.

Oh well, although I haven't perceived any discernable difference in air flow/quality, I'll definitely fix it next time I need to change the filter.

Has anyone had problems with the white plastic filter cover? I couldn't get the cover to fit securely after I reinstalled the filter and I didn't want to push too hard and break something. I did position the cover so the filter rested on top of the two arms inside the filter cover, but I couldn't get a flush fit. Now I've got a wheezing sound from the dash when the vents are on high, so I've got to take it apart and try again.

There are two tabs on the left side of the cover and I positioned those tabs in the slots on the filter box to make it like a door hinge, then 'closed the door' to get the latch on the right side to fit. Is this the right approach? I could get a tight fit on the left or right side but not both sides at the same time.

I wanted to look at it at 10K miles to see if it was dirty, and it was almost brand new other than a slight dark spot in the center. I'm going to skip the 15K replacement and do it myself at 20-25K (or just have the dealer do it at 30K service if I'm lazy).

Your "there are two tabs on the left side of the cover and I positioned those tabs in the slots on the filter box to make it like a door hinge, then 'closed the door' to get the latch on the right side to fit" is the correct approach.

You shouldn't have any problems with that simple cover!!

IIRC, you have to make sure the filter is resting on top the tabs that are located on the inside part of the cover. That might be the problem..

I tried it again yesterday and it's OK now, no more wheezing sound. It didn't snap in that easily.... but I didn't break anything.
