Does anybody know why G37X sedan is 0.5" taller than non-X?

 

Do you mean why did Infiniti design it that way? Prolly since most people who were buying the AWD feature were doing so to enhance capabilities in the snow they would need more ground clearance to avoid high centering or plowing through the snow. I know roads around here I've been plowing and even hit some "ice rocks" that I couldnt avoid, if I was 0.5" lower it'd be even worse.

 

I've wondered why myself. And it's not limited to Infiniti. My neighbor has a 535xi with sport package but that does not include the sport suspension for whatever reason.

Why are 4x4 trucks higher than their 2 wheel drive brothers? Same reason. Benefit of greater ground clearance to make better use of the 4 wheel capability.

 

But our vehicles are sport sedans. I don't think STi's or EVO's are elevated...

 

^you're aiming your comments at cars not considered competitors to the G sedan.

What car is? Who is Infiniti aiming at? That's your clue as to why raised height.

Someone looking for a true sport sedan is normally looking for lighter weight and RWD ie not AWD.
