Battery is dead... how-to replace?

Went to start the car this morning and all i can hear is a series of clicks, and all dash lights blinking like that's an alien ship nearby.

I'm off to get a new battery. I must admit, i've never replaced one before. Is there a proper way to disconnect the cables, take the battery out, put the new one in, and reconnect the cables?

Thanks for any and all help!

Thanks, is it negative off first, and first in?

Also, does anyone know how to take off the plastic shroud immediately at the bottom of the windshield? I managed to get the battery/brake fluid cover and triangle shrouds off, but not the bigger piece that holds everything together.

Edit: NVM, i found it on the FSM for removing that shroud/cowl... just need to figure it out now.
