Another 60K Service Thread...
Searched around but wanted to ask again...
Mom's '07 Journey sedan is coming up on the 60K service and I wondered what everyone's thinking is on what's necessary. The 30K was just the standard oil change, rotation, filters etc.
More specifically what are the feelings about fluid changes i.e. coolant, tranny, diff and brake? I'll probably have the belt and hoses done if they're looking tired.
It's confusing as the 1&2 maintenance schedule in the book never
requires fluid changes and even the dealer said that they weren't really necessary either.

Follow the OEM intervals. They are there for a reason. Mostly stemming from long term results to keep reliability stable and prevent excessive wear, or limit exposure for un-needed risk to operation.
If you are maintenance averse, don't buy premium cars - or cars that have lots of recommended maintenance.

I'm not questioning the interval but the schedules that members follow. As I said, schedule 1&2 which are "OEM" never recommend fluid changes.
Not sure where your seeing any reluctance fro me to perform anything "OEM" required by the manual? It's a waste of money to perform everything recommended under the premium maintenance schedule. It's only a $35K car not a Ferrari.

Definitely do the transmission fluid. I bought my car at 72k last year and the dealer said the fluid was brown and nasty. The previous owner just did routine maintenance (oil, filter, etc), skipping over the 30, 45, and 60k.
