I just repaired mine in a similar way, though mine had a broken chunk sticking out.

I used 7/32" ID aluminum tubing which fit snugly around the remaining bit of the tab, wrapped it in electrical tape so it fit snugly but not tight in the hole, then put epoxy in the tube and glued it on, and epoxied the electrical tape at the other end so it doesn't delaminate.

EDIT: I spoke prematurely, it already broke! The broken part was too difficult to get at to clean, I'm guessing the dirt caused poor adhesion.

Put some gorilla glue on the tip of a screw and screw it in there. Should hold.

There's no hole to screw into though, it's a jagged piece sticking out of the original latch, hence the tube. I just couldn't get the JB Weld to stick since I couldn't clean the surface.

It's pretty easy to remove the entire lock assembly, take off the side liner in the trunk and it's right there. Once it's out of the car you should be able to fix it.

Ah, I didn't realize there was no bolt securing it! Just had to yank it out through the weird shaped hole with the black plastic clip off.

Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to get the unit open to replace the latch (I don't feel like trying to glue stuff to it again). I will try to find a whole working unit off a parts car one of these days.

I’d recommend going this route.
