I have a 2008 G35x sedan and I'm looking to replace the timing chain, gears, tensioners and guides. My water pump went out and I figure while I'm that far in It's a good time to do everything. I've looked up kits , but most just list G35. Are the VQ35DE and the VQ35 HR parts interchangeable? I'm also looking to change the gallery gaskets (if needed) as well. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, John

 

I would recommend just buying a Chinese HR kit. You have the 3.7 HR, right?

 

No its an 08 G-35. In 07 the sedan had the new 3.5l VQHR engine and the coupe still had the older DE engine. In 08 the both had the HR and my car is 08sedan. My question is they mostly say G35 or G35DE. Are they the same parts for both engines? I'm not sure? Thanks for trying to help me, I do appreciate you.

 

The HR doesn’t have the same timing setup as the 3.5L VQ’s.

seems the timing components are similar for most cars with the 3.7L VQ. Example: 370Z, M37, G37, etc.
