Have you called/shown it to Infiniti yet?
I would be complaining to Infiniti if mine looked like that.
If they refuse to replace it just keep bugging them and keep calling Infiniti USA. Just don't lose your cool.
In the mean time I personally would purchase the door bezel from Riverside Infiniti's Parts for about $30.00 and hopefully get reimbursed by Infiniti at some point. Be sure you keep the original part(s) and take pictures of you swapping them out yourself.
I think the steering wheel part is also found on Riverside Infiniti's Parts under --> Steering wheel , Steering wheel and trim ,Steering wheel ,Lid )...$6.00ea.
Good luck. I hope you get Infiniti to take care of you as they should.

Mine is wheat color also and the Pepboys technicians gave greasy finger marks in that hole there and I wiped them off as much as I can but it's something about that material or coating that can't be cleaned 100%. I've Simonized done that could have something to do with it too..

It looks like some sort of gunk on the bezel that needs wiped off but won't. Is the black rubber coating only about 1 ml thick? I think I'll buy a new bezel after reading this.

most of the parts on the door interior are replaceable, and they can be ordered thru the dealer. i recently replaced the "brushed aluminum" trim pieces on the door handles of my black/black coupe...they looked like hell from the previous owner.

the dealer who i bought the car from replaced them for me before i took possession...and the salesperson showed me the parts list broken down with what is available. if i can get a copy of the sheet ill scan/post it for the sedan/coupe

Do guys with the 08 have the same issues?? I drive an 08 Journey and mine looks good as new.. I think I have one chip on the door handle part of the switch bezel.

I am guessing this problem is more for the 07 than the 08 models.

08/black here. Have the same problem. The metal clip from the seat belt hits it when I take it off. Trying to be more careful now.

A couple years later and I still haven't fixed my handles. Anyone have any new ideas? I just looked at a 2009 at the local dealership and they have plastic door handles instead of this rubber material that we have. Will the 09 handles fit?

I have exact same problem (and on steering wheel too). Looks terrible, and I have not abused it in the least. Anyone brought a replacement part and tried to fix it yet? I'd be interested to know the process.

Mine is a lease and the dealer told me it cost a TON to replace that part because you have to take the whole door apart.

He was going to call me with some names of his service guys who have "sprayed" these handles with some success.

2007 G35X, black.

Thanks, Tom

I would replace them, but it won't do me any good if it's the same crappy material. Still looking to see if anyone has found a real fix (or replaced with the 09 inserts) with any success.

After searching a bit more, someone said the 09 (plastic ones from G37) will not work. And now it looks like riverside infiniti went to a ebay store setup for parts and doesn't have that part listed. I'm half tempted to spray paint them, but I'm afraid it will look like crap.

I have the same problem and it really drives me nuts. I baby the car pretty good but stuff happens, between fingernails, watches etc. there are they small chips on the armrest that I really want to get rid off. My dealership is fairly stingy and I doubt they will be replacing it any time soon.

I'm surprised no one has a more permanent fix but for $30 I'm happy buying the replacement part if I could find it! Anyone have an alternative to the Riverside Infiniti site which as pointed out doesn't carry it anymore?

A few years later and I'm still waiting to hear a solution. The sad thing is that infiniti obviously fixed the problem with newer models... and my dealership looked at me like I was crazy when I asked to have them fixed under warranty.

The dealership is giving us a hard time about this and saying it is not under warranty. Is the issue in the 07 models in writing anywhere?
