I guess all dealers are not equal....

My dealer fixed it no questions asked, even replaced the steering wheel and the other three door handles. Did while I was in for my clutch slave recall and sunroof grind noise.

The new 2010 models have a different panel for area surrounding the window controls and door locks. Its a much tougher plastic that isn't soft like the 07's. I think these could be switched out on the older model pretty easily but

I'm not sure where to buy this panel aftermarket from though. Any ideas?

There seems to be three types of panels from what i've observed.

There's the easily scratched, but rubbery, panel on the early '07s.

Then there's the hard, but somewhat texturized plastic on the G37s (don't know which year, it was a loaner).

Then there's a non-textured, but doesn't seem rubberized, panel that i got as a replacement from the dealership.

i'm going to try sanding and re-coating mine soon but i'm likely just going to use a matte black paint since it's more durable.

I have an early 07 and thought I was scratching it with my nails. Then I intentionally scratched it with my fingernails and it easily comes off. No doubt a defective adhesive or something. My dealer says I did it. I say he will never sell me another car. This is my first import and I am 57. Love the car, don't understand how such a decent made car could have such a cheesy interior.

This is not something you should ever have to do with an expensive car but you can replace them with the front bezels from an +08 (for < $65 total) and not have to worry about it again. The newer parts do not have the problem.

What i did is i took everything off and sanded everything off and gave it to a local paint shop that i trust and had them color match my car. All 4 of them came out very sexy. Maybe you guys can do the same.

I had the same problem too, I just took out the panels myself, it's not hard to do you can honestly just muscle it out. I sanded and painted over. You can take out the buttons but I was too lazy for it haha. This is the first coat.

i did the same but fyi the buttons come out very easily, there are just four clips(2 clips on each side) on each door pull holding the entire buttons assembly this way you wont loose the graphics on the buttons

I am having this issue now and I rarely even drive my car. Is it conclusive that the +08 bezels will fit in the 07 model?

Yes, they will fit. The dealer told me that even if they input the old switch bezel part number, that their system automatically cross references to the new part that won't scratch. Very easy to change out, and parts are inexpensive. Orderinfinitiparts.com
