DIY and/or Experience with installation of fog lights over the hood

Hey Guys - anyone know if there is a DIY specifically for the installation of fog lights over the hood? I was told by a couple of people that this is easier to do rather than the one through the front wheels.

If no DIY's are available, can anyone explain how its done? Those who have done it already?

Also do we need to detach the battery in order to do this mod? I read on the manual that if you were to replace your HID's, you need to detach the battery... I was wondering if this applied to the fog lights as well.

Thanks a million guys

I didn't Detach battery.

To do over the hood, take out both intakes and there is plenty of room for you to reach down and change the bulbs!

Lol,
I can try to tell you
Okay, unplug the sensors, then remove the screw that attaches the intakes to the car, then losen the silver screw so that you can remove the intake from the hose. Then grab the whole intake and just slowly rock side to side and pull up. Then Pop intake is out.

Exactly whats been said but I also found a nifty place to hide the ballasts. There is some rubber/plastic lining in the truck that blocks the area behind the fenders. Pop a few clips and you will have access to that area.

On the passenger side its directly left to the silver badge plate.

Sounds like its a lot of work... am I wrong to say it might be easier to do it through the wheel wells? Even if you had to remove the wheel rather than the intakes?

Although some say its not necessary to remove the wheels... at least for the HID's... although, I dont know if that is true for the fogs...

okay I' be changed the parking lights And also my fogs ( twice) and honesty taking the intakes out is much easier than when I had to go through the wheel. Much cleaner too. Plus I think you are going to have problems reaching he fogs going through the wheel if you do not remove the wheel. Trust me intake faster easier and better to get to the fogs.

You can change the fogs from under the hood.
I installed a 3000k Kit and it was a piece of cake.

so there are those who can change it without removing anything eh? interesting.. you guys must have small hands. haha as do I.

thanks for the info's... I would love to see a DIY on this.

For those who needs a DIY for intake removal, you guys can hit up the stillen.com website.. then look at their intakes, and they have instructions there on how to remove it.

just find the bulb by looking in
then rotate the plug so that you can remove it from the housing. Once out you're gonna need a tiny screw driver or something to take the bulb out of the socket. I don't know how to explain but there is a clip that clips the bulb in place.

You do not need a screwdriver. The bulb is held in by standard butterfly clips. Just push them in and out and your bulb will be loose.

Did you guys unplug the battery before you guys removed the intakes? I believe this is a requirement?
