We Don't Need No Stinkin Badges

So, I'm a new G35X owner as of Saturday. Picked up a used 2007 G35X with about 30K on the clock and have a smile from ear to ear so far with my first 300 miles. I'm a convert from the VW community and VWVORTEX since my previous get up was a 01 Jetta VR6 which I loved to death but it was time for an upgrade.

So my question is that it is big and I'm a fan of debadging and was thinking about taking off the G35x and Infinit lettering from the rear deck lid. What are your thoughts on the look of this? Also I'm going to tint the windows relatively soon and not sure what the stock window tint is? Does anyone know, I don't want to get a fine and repair order for going over the limit by a few points. Thanks for any input!

B

I debadged mine and tinted my windows 15%. I like the look of the debadged look. The G's don't come tinted at all. Was yours already tinted?

maybe your local tint shop will have a tint meter that you could check what tint you already have on the car.. or you could remove it and place new tint on at whatever % u like.. congrats on the car btw

DO IT! Shave off the letters! pretty sure the members here will agree w/ that. looks alot better..
As for your tints, state law allows 35% where you live. Obviously if you go 35% w/ the stock tints that came w/ the car, tint reader will read it between 30-33% i believe? correct me if I'm wrong

you are correct if he didnt already have tinted windows. clear glass already has a small percentage of tint but since his has window tint already applied, it will be a lot lower, say 1-30% depending on how dark his tint currently is.

Yup, hit it with a hair dryer to heat it up a bit and run some tooth floss behind the letters.
Then you just need to clean off the adhesive.

Keep in mind, if the letters have been sitting there a few years, you may see some shadowing when the letters are removed. That should go away with time.

My letters are coming off in a few weeks and I plan on polishing it up when I'm done.

Looks pretty clean without the letters, just as I thought it would. I'll probably do it in a week or so then do some waxing to even out the coloring as much as possible since it has about 2/3 years of sunexposure on the paint. As for the tint I was talking about the 1 to 5% natural/stock tint that the windows have, I have known people who had a few percent on the window and got the legal tint done but when it was tested by a cop it was over by the stock window tint amount and had to remove it (for freaking 3% of tint over the limit).

EnviedG35 - GREAT looking shot. Never thought a white G could look menacing, but yours does. Are you going to finish it off w/ a black roof?

I like the look of POPCORNTEN's car...that is the same way i debadged mine...

I was considering taking the 'INFINITI' letters off as well, but i am not liking the off-center look of Mt. FUJI.....

The actual Infiniti symbol on the trunk is screwed on right? Or is that also attached via sticky doublesided foam like the letters. I assumed it was screwed on and would leave holes if I took it off so I never actually looked but noticed the white one above had everything removed. I'm at work so I can't go out and check.
