Ok, I see.

Claying it will not fix the underlying problem. It needs to be re-painted.

Clay will clean it up, but it won't stop it from spreading under the paint.

Took my car into the dealer to make claim. They took pics and examined the car for a good 10-15 mins. Dealer emailed Infiniti corporate the photos . The dealer said it usually takes a few days to hear back from corporate regarding weather they will pay or not.

Since it got so bad, sure, I agree, it's under warranty, re-paint it, get it done right. But for future issues, as soon as you see rust peckles on your paint, clay them off so it doesn't get to the point that it is now.

IIRC, the V35's have a 10 year paint warranty which covers rusting. Your 07 should be within warranty so take it to the dealer.

Unfortunately, most corrosion warranties cover rust through perforation on the sheet metal with actual holes. Surface corrosion from nicks, chips and scratches are not usually covered. We'll have to check the Warranty book for what Infiniti say about theirs.

Edit:
Good News, Ours states: Surface corrosion of any body sheet metal is covered by the 48 month/100,000kms Basic Coverage. Surface corrosion means corrosion affecting any readily visible surface area of any component of the vehicle body, but not including the vehicle underbody.
There are limitation which include if the paint is damaged by chipping or debris from the road. ect.

Am I missing something? Take it to the dealership for rust spots? Is that covered under the bumper to bumper warranty? I have a rust spot that has bubbled up a bit, very small, but annoying nonetheless - I have tried taking a claybar to it, but to no avail.

Thanks
