Why is everyone stating LED burn out quickly? That's so far from the truth. They actually last longer than regular bulbs so in that aspect I don't see how you can say they burn out quickly. Those of you that had them burn out may want to check the application that you've used them in against the application they were made for.

OP I myself am interested in changing mine. I bought the PIAA intense White but yesterday when I tried to replace them, I couldn't figure out how to access them from the wheel well area, so I ended up just cleaning the inside of my rims and called it a day since wheel had to come off for MY replacement attempt. Not as simple as on my previous 04G

LED should look good, a tad whiter than your HIDs, do it and let us see how it looks. I need to do the same for the clearance/parking light. Yesterday was a non-productive light upgrade day for me. The LED (PIAA) I bought for the parking light was too fat around the plastic piece so won't fit in the factory slot.

In automotive headlamp applications or any application that calls for higher lumens and/or output, like those offered by SMT's and Luxeon's (i.e. HPLEDS) -- these types of LEDs do burn out quicker mainly because they are, by nature, temperature sensitive. Moreso than your typical filament-type bulb. The hotter it gets, the faster it wears. This is why Audi decided to put a cooling fan on theirs.

Try doing it from the engine bay, i find it easier to access the fogs from up there than from the wheel well where accessing the headlamps and clearance lights are much easier.

i tried a set of led fogs because i don't use the fog lights so i didnt care that they dont really put out much light. Well good luck doing that because even the smallest ones that would be worth having didnt fit through the tiny hole.

Also as for the leds burning out faster, only cheap or improperly engineered assemblies will burn out. Yes smds and the likes do get hotter, but properly designed heatsinks and correct voltage/current inputs make them last just as long. Those which burn out quickly are being overdriven so the manufacturer can have them reach full brightness and claim to be the brightest... and they will be for a very short time

Do you have pictures of the LED fogs. Where did you buy them from.

Yea I've read after that the removal of the airbox is much easier than going through the wheel well, now it's too cold for me to mess with this. Hopefully Friday
