The seat-back tilt function on my drivers seat has stopped working. Rather than try and find parts and tear the seat apart, I can get a spare passenger seat available locally. Can I replace the drivers seat with a passenger seat?

 

Interesting idea. Why not try it yourself and see if you can swap yours. Doesn't take very long to uninstall them. My guess is the electrical connectors are going to jam you up. I have a V35 and the controls are different so will have different number of conductors and probably different connectors. Have you looked for just the switches? The switches go bad in the V35. I don't recall ever hearing it was the actual motors in the seat. But maybe V36 used better switches and didn't install them facing up in order to catch every bit of dirt, dust, crumb whatever floats by.

 

The plastic gears also wear out on the seats. It's a regular thing. Usually it's the forward-backward, but maybe your seat tilt gear stripped?
