LAGUNA SECA track event in Feburary!!!
I will be attending a full track event Feb. 6th at Laguna Seca (Mazda Raceway). I thought I'd ask if any fellow Gsters are interested. If so, please reply here so I can fill you in on the details.

Re: LAGUNA SECA track event in Feburary!!!
I do most of my track events through Speed Ventures. It's run by two guys that are in this only for the love of motorsports. They have some of the lowest (if not the lowest) rates going around. Registration and membership are completely FREE
The events are run extremely easy and laid back. Many newbies will be attending as well.
Registration for the Feburary Laguna Seca event isn't open just yet, but should be sometime soon. There should be 3 run groups (Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced). Cost is $275 (a relative bargain for Laguna Seca). This is the same track Champ Cars (formally IndyCar) and American Le Mans races on and simply one of the best tracks in North America.
BTW ... Feburary 6th is on a Friday, so do plan ahead and get the day off of work (if needed). I will be leaving Thursday evening with a caravan of S2000s. We will be staying at a hotel/motel near by and plan to head back to SoCal sometime durring Sunday.
As always, it will be fun fun fun!!!
Let me know if you (or anyone else) have any specific questions.

Oh yes ... keep the wifey happy by all means!!! But, I must admit, 99.99% of the ladies/wifies that goes to Seca end up having an absolute blast!
Yeah $275 is not exactly pocket change especially for most first time trackers. I was there once! But having said that, Laguna Seca is the most expensive track facility, but also the grandest in almost every way. IMHO, it offers the purest on track scenary with dramatic elevation changes and that famous 'Cork Screw' (turn 8/8a) will have you awing all day and forever hooked. A typical track event at Seca runs in the $350 range, so I hope anyone that is 'able' not miss this great opportunity. Do your VQ35 justice ... let it play once in a while
G35Chic ... let's go! I believe it was your 'challenge'?
Where's that Crazy Hawaiian? ... let's see some 'hana' Kawika!
350Z are also welcomed! ... or any other cars! There was a wickedly fast black 350Z when I was up at Button Willow last month!
No worries if you can't make it ... there's always another day!
Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with Speed Ventures. I simply have enjoyed every track outtings with them and liked how they run the events with minimal interventions. And most importantly, dirt cheap!

FYI www.unlimitedlaps.com does track events at Laguna Seca as well...
I am planning on running at the Jan 3rd (Saturday) event. Unfortunately I get to miss a few bowl games.
The cost is $260, slightly cheaper than the Speed Ventures event and is not on a working day.

$260 is excellent!!!
Funny enough Speed Ventures' at Laguna Seca the day before that (Jan. 2nd) as well. Early Jan. is tough for a lot of us, however. Recovery from the Holidays and let the Egg Nog settle a bit. hehe.
Just curious, how many cars do they book? That has a big effect on the cost. It's always a fine line between 'cheap' and 'less track time'.
Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to check em out too!

Re: LAGUNA SECA track event in Feburary!!!
Actually it's $265, $270 by Paypal.
There's 3 run groups, based on experience. Advanced has open passing, intermediate has passing by point-by anywhere on track, and beginner has passing on front straight only.
I emailed the organizer last month and he mentioned that there is a max of 25 drivers per run group, but that last year's Laguna Seca event for them came out to be about 20 drivers per group. I ran with SpeedTrial USA 2 years ago at Laguna Seca and with 25 drivers per group on track there was more than enough lap time for the entire day.

Yeah 20-25 cars per session at Seca is totally decent. That should be what we're expecting w. Speed Ventures as well. I check'd out their website ... looks pretty good to me! Thanks again.

How do tires hold up during these events? I am not ready to throw them away yet. Do they get worn out easily at one of these events? I really want to go.

You're on Pilot Sports right? ... I can't say for certain with those as I have a sedan running on Eagle GS-Ds. However, Laguna Seca is more of a finess track, so tire wear is actually farily decent! You shouldn't have too much worries as long as you don't drive like a drunk. Hehe. If anything I would be more concerned with brakes. There will be elevated brake wear for sure, but again, it all depends on how aggressive you play. If you can afford to, get urself a set of track pads such as the Hawk HPS or HP+ (ones I'm using). They'll hold up to many many track events. Simply swap em out for the stockers pads at the end of the day. Btw ... pads are extremely easy to replace by one's self.
