Whats wrong with my car

After 3 weeks its good to be back in Hawaii but it sucks that my coupe has to be towed to the dealership tomorrow. I unhooked the battery to make sure my car doesnt move while i was gone and when i hooked it back up today, every warning light was on and when i stepped on the gas it only went up to 1500rpm. Does anyone know what happened?

Fail-safe mode. Probably with the battery disconnected, the ECU lost all power for an extended time, and therefore went into failsafe. Reving only till 1500 sounds like the tell tale sign of that.

Infiniti will have to reset everything for you to clear that error code.

Next time my suggestion would be to just pull the ignition fuse from the fuse box. That way all functions are intact, but there will be no connection to the battery power for the ignition module to start.

I wouldn't bother with unhooking the battery like that. Too much trouble for you. If someone really wants to take the car, they'll do it with a flatbed trailer, and your battery won't be an issue.

If unhooking the battery is going to be enough of a deterrent, then so is something like The Club, and it's less hassle for you.

Re: Whats wrong with my car

actually the car was garaged and i live in a good hood. i just didnt want any family member using my car since theyre not very good at shifting. i know they would take it out even though i say no. I thought it would be rude to ask for the spare key back that i gave them to hold a while ago so I decided to be sneaky and take the battery out.

In the past, i have just pulled the ignition fuse and that was fine enough.

Car wont turn over, but does not affect the radio memory or disable power to the ECU.

Did it get "repaired" yet??
