"Cheap" and "non-pre-wired" don't usually mix well... You might be able to talk an A/V shop into a quote, explain exactly what needs to be done, get it in print, then give them the printed instructions. I did that in Indy and got Ovation Audio to install mine... they did it for like $75 if I recall correctly, and said "damn, I wish we wouldn't have signed that quote off; it took near 4 hours." Oops.

gotcha... they'll try to get you to pay ~$900 or so. Get the parts from Grubbs Infiniti for about $350 total (wire, antenna, and receiver), then get it installed for about $100 tops. Would that work?

Non pre-wired sedan, parts + labor was about $400 for me. I got the parts from Grubbs and about a $75 install for the entire setup. You can get it much cheaper than at the dealership...

I'll make a quick comment on my set-up. Not cheap by any means, but I wanted SAT sooo bad, I had to pay the price. My coupe was non pre-wired also. Vintage VIN number. Tustin did my install, $800, wiring harness etc, which included leaving my coupe over night. They did the job "right" and I have been in heaven ever since.

You should check your trunk for the prewire first. My VIN is before the the official number that Infiniti released as being prewired. But when I looked in the trunk, there was the wire with the white connector hang loose off the end. Saved my from buying the wire harness like someone else on this forum did and then he found out he had it prewired even with a lower VIN like mine.

You should be able to get a decent install price from any car stereo/alarm specialist. If you're prewired, just put the receiver and antenna in yourself. It's very easy.

Open your driver's side door. Look on the frame of the car, where the pillar is. Check for a sticker that says you're pre-wired for XM-- just look around til you find/don't find one. The VIN # thing isn't always correct, so this is the only 100% sure way to find out.

If there's no sticker, there's no wire in your trunk... Those two go together 100% of the time. One does not exist without the other.

My 2003 was non-prewired and I was gonig to have Tustin Infiniti do the install. They quoted $300 for install only. Parts are extra. I then went to my local Circuit City and had them install the new wire from the radio unit to trunk. Plus they ran the atenna. The whole thing cost me $80.00 and about 1 hour. I have had no problems with the system plus they guarantee their work for 1 year. I checked with Infiniti and they said if the wire and XM receiver were installed by a professional they would not void the warranty. CHeck out your local Curcuit City. I live in Temecula, CA.
