*** HIGH PRICE OF GAS IN BAY AREA (OUCH) ***

$2.51 for Super Unleaded in SAN FRANCISCO?
Am I the only one b****ing about this?

What the F is going on with the gas prices?
First they get us on the registration and now this?

Damn I'd rather get a Venti Latte for that price...no full tanks for now! SHEEET!

Ok I just needed to vent...I know other states are paying only like $1.60 for Unleaded.

Re: *** HIGH PRICE OF GAS IN BAY AREA (OUCH) ***

In 1990 there were around 40 refineries in California. I believe there's 9 left. When one or two go down, the total production percentage loss is much higher. Combine that with California's latest standard for gas, and they can't import gas from most other sources.

They've done similar things to the power generation industry. We're now among the highest power rates in the nation. Some say we're the highest. Grey Davis and his tree huggers shutdown permitting for 40 power plants in California. Interstate transmission lines are already overloaded on hot summer days. IMO, if we have a hot summer, I'd expect black outs.

The tax 'em socialists and tree huggers continue to win.

Damn....I thought Hawaii had the highest gas prices in the nation. I take that back!!! Talk about rape!! Yikes, $2.50 for premium is outrageous.

Here in Hawaii, our average is $2.16 for premium.

Re: *** HIGH PRICE OF GAS IN BAY AREA (OUCH) ***

the LA burbs are at about $2.40 right now.. i filled up for $2.24 yesterday at costco, and it seems like i got a bargain!

its NIMBY (Not In My BackYard) politics when it comes to building refineries... same thing for building electricity/power plants too..

Insane! I paid 2.19 for premium (91) at a 76 gas station a week ago. Prices are rising, I've seen $2.42 already for 91 at a Mobil station =/

Re: *** HIGH PRICE OF GAS IN BAY AREA (OUCH) ***

It's like do i want to fill up my car "F" or just what I need for the week? Gas money or Coffee / Lunch money you know?

I heard the same thing...some senator is "considering" increasing gas prices to over $3.00 per gallon?

BOYCOT Corporate America! DAMN THEM!

First it was ENRON, Cell Phone Companies, and now this..GEEEZUS Holy @A%T!
Make these gas prices go away!
We should start some type of petition to the Governor!
I'm not trying to sound like a typical nickel and dime guy but what about low income families who are barely making a living?

I don't live in the Bay Area, but my local Shell was $2.35 for premium, as of today. I will need to fill up this weekend, and it will tear a new a$$ into me. My wife heard the same as TINMAN, us in So. Cal will see $3.00 per gallon very soon. Talk about organized crime!

Normally I don't like to get politically active, but this is ridiculous! If we can somehow get more people to get upset about this with this being an election year, hopefully the idiot politicians can help us.

Re: *** HIGH PRICE OF GAS IN BAY AREA (OUCH) ***

IMO, its not really corporate america that's at fault here, although it is easy to blame them.. each state sets its own amount of taxes on gas, some states are more than others, and some state legislatures are more tax-and-spend-happy than others (ie. CA). also CA has a different blend of gasoline from the rest of the country b/c of our zero-emissions laws. also the groups that are really at fault are liberal politicians and environmentalists who don't want to build refineries and power plants b/c a bunch of tree huggers say its bad for the environment.. also whenever CA is in financial crisis, the libs look to increase the gas tax to pay for "transportation infrastructure". the last gas increase of 6 cents was supposed to do just that, but somehow its gone.. i think things will get worse before it gets better, b/c we have a governor (poke fun at him all you want) that understands these things and wants taxpayer relief, unfortunately all the democrat-controlled legislature wants to do is raise taxes.. btw, if you don't want your taxes raised, vote NO on prop. 56. let me step off my soapbox now, just my $0.02, im sure many of you will disagree.
