Mini Lunch meet to Angeles Crest
There has been a certain amount of interest voiced for a quick little lunchtime run onto the Angeles Crest Highway some day during lunch break.
With the draconian 45 minute lunches at JPL, it would have to be pretty carefully timed, but I think that it could be promising, maybe with a stop for a snack somewhere in the wilderness.
I have co-workers with a Mini S, Dodge SRT-4, and Yamaha bike (sorry, my bike model skillz aren't the greatest...) who'd probably also go along.
The Mini guy might also have people from his Mini Forum
So who's interested?

Sounds like a plan, I work in San Marino...I used to work at JPL...

Intersection of Foothill and Angeles Crest. We''ll drive up the Crest for about 9-10miles to (I think) the first rest area. Have your lunch with you!!!!!!!!! We'll eat there and look at different cars... We'll be down from the crest by 12:50 for people to go back to work!
I'm estimating 10 cars or so... If everything goes well then we'll probably make it regular thing.
PLEASE DON"T BE LATE! "cause there is not much time... We'll be taking off close to 11:35 (latest 11:40).

Us JPLers take their lunch breaks very seriously. We need our regular 'fix' or don't coming running to us if the next Mars Rover goes Kookoo again

Oh that was wonderful! Weather was perfect ... cool enough to enjoy the cool breeze through the rolled down windows. I acutally liked the smaller pack. I'm able to see if anyone fell behind w. a quick glance at the rear view mirror.
And was it me or did the food tasted better at higher altitude?
