RE: Performance Nissan

Hey all:

I know there were some ruffled feathers regarding the meet at Performance Nissan... it was a G35Driver meet that turned into a Nissan Z-Fest.

I was at PN the thursday before the meet. Both Jason and Mike were concerned that the event had "grown legs of its own", spreading across many boards. They didn't know what to do to limit the event without alienating their primary customer base - a group that has followed and supported them much longer than the G's.

The parking thing got dictated by SportZ magazine that showed up, cuz they wanted to do an article on the Z's. (hello - Sport "Z" Magazine) Notice, we do not have a "Mt. Fuji Mag"!

Although I was unable to attend, I know they went to significant trouble and expense to put on an event for us...then everyone. Let's all make sure we show appreciation for that effort: renting the school, providing the food, taking out a million $'s of insurance, etc...

We just have to realize that we had a good thing going, and other folks wanted to play. I hope that in the future we can have sponsored G-only meets, have an amicable relationship where the Z group invites us to their shin-digs as well as being one big happy family at the Nissan Owners' Festival.

Cheers, Ted

Very well said Ted.

I whole heartly appreciate every bit that Performance Nissan has done. It was no small feat and overall a great turn out.

Quite honestly, I was actually hoping for more *moded* non-G/Z Nissan/Infiniti cars there. The two lone classic Datsuns I thought were wonderful. Unfortunately, I couldn't find their owners to chat with.

Cheers,

Time to "fess up" for... "The parking thing got dictated by SportZ magazine that showed up, cuz they wanted to do an article on the Z's."

As you now know, Jeff did as I requested. I tried to run the parking by Ed but we never did talk. While some will disagree, I honestly believe the "big meet" article's pictures will be better for the groupings. I intend to cover the entire meet, including both clubs, Performance Nissan, the aftermarket vendors and hopefully some of the more notable Gs and Zs. It will be a big challenge due to limited word count and available space for pictures.

A couple of you are aware that I've been trying to influence Sport Z Magazine into including a G35 section or at least a G35 article in every other issue. So far I've been able to sell the Gurgen article and the possibility of three future articles (all G35 related). Of course Sport Z Magazine's bottom line is... will including G35 articles sell more magazines?

To help "sell" the big (combined) meet article, I did what I did. In all honestly, I never realized this would end up being a problem for some. For those who are upset, please accept my sincere apology.

Jason,

You're right, unless you talked to someone else from Sport Z Magazine. I initially asked for the separate groupings so we could focus on G35s for a dedicated article. Since the meet was so big, it's now grown into a joint meet article.

Re: RE: Performance Nissan

I like to express my opinion. I'm very new to this forum & that was my first time attending such a meet. As an "older" owner of a G35c6mt, I found that I enjoyed the time I spent there. I met a couple of nice guys, talked cars, and had a great time looking at what people do to their G's & Z's. Not having met Jason or Mike, they seemed to be genuine car enthusiast. I should say, they are! Being a Producer, I know what it takes, (time & money!) to get food, a location contract, and an insurance policy so everyone and everything is safe and secure. I just want to "Thank" them for a great meet & a fun time. I had no problem what-so-ever in the way the meet went. Hell, even my car had some pixs taken, which I've seen here. Bottom line, "Thank you" to all who participated in getting the meet together & to Performance Nissan.

I'd like to host one of your meetings at my shop in Mission Viejo if any of you are interested. I just picked up my G on Saturday and am looking for mod ideas. This site is a great resource but nothing like seeing things in person.

Do you hear me?

Re: RE: Performance Nissan

I personally had a great time. I had no problem with the Z's being there. I am a huge fan of both cars.
We certainly can have some more "G only" meets in the future. If I can, I will attend all Nissan family meets as well as G only meets in the future.
Thanks again to the guys that put this on.
