It has nothing to do with the red light cameras. The cameras can easily be adjusted to take a picture of the rear plate. The reason it wil probably never pass is greed on the behalf of shylock politicians that love to have their hand deep in the pockets of Californians. I'm glad I left. Cops really have nothing better to do out there than to harass people to make a quick dollar on vehicle code infraction tickets.

 

You know what is interesting, we (california) are going through some major budget cuts. Cities are then cutting law enforcement because they do not have the funds. Now If I'm a cop and the state needs more funds i wonder what I can do. If i was a cop I would be handing out 2x the tickets now. Optional warning is gone.

I haven't had a front license plate for over fifteen years and I have never been pulled over for that. BTW I lived in CA that whole time. I guess all those terrible corrupt cops with nothing better to do then to harrass us tax paying citizens never noticed me. Hmmmm...

 

Enforcement isn't consistent. I've been pulled over for speeding, and had them ignore my front window tint (which was actually legal in Texas, where I had it applied before moving out to California). In some places, if they see your car is lowered, they'll stop you and measure your headlights and possibly give you a ticket for running lights too low to the ground.

 

One thing that is funny is that if you read the comments, people signing this come accross as morons. There are so many spelling errors and typos. The language and tone assumed by the undersigned is completely informal. I could see someone throwing this petition in the trash because of comments like:

"This Law BLOWS"

"This law blows, this petition is on the right track"

"some cars arnt made for it and it lowering the value of are cars when we are drilling into our bumpers"

"Blam this stuff guys..I had ot kill my bumper to mount the usless front plate...DAMN YOU LEGISLATION!"

...and my personal favorite:

"Yo yo...get this law off da books...all the other states aint got dis goin down..so why should we?This is a big load yo...I be rollin through the streets with a license plate in my window because I aint go6t nowhere to put it on the front of my pimped out ride yo...get this law off da books and you wont see me up in da jailhouse ever again..."
