Ticket...
Just got my first speeding ticket last night
58 in a 40 zone
Would there be any way to reduce the fine, keep it off my driving record, and not raise my insurance rates? Any info would be helpful =T

Re: Ticket...
are you a student? or worker?
if you are a student, when you go to court you can submit your good standing grade to prove you are a nice, smart student.
hahaha....I know that's silly but it works..

Re: Ticket...
Yep.. and you are eligable for Traffic school since this is your first ticket. IT'S the only way to go; it will clear your point and your insurance won't even hear about it. Basically, it's like nothing ever happened (minus the ticket fee and traffic school fee ($20-40). =)
Re: Ticket...
If you arent eligble for traffic school,.....did he/she write you on Radar or laser. Radar is a little easier to fight. check out
www.ticketassasin.com.
Also, go in and get a trial date. a few days before go in and request an extension. this buys you about a 3 month delay. Chances are the cop will forget about you and wont want to make the appearance when the case is finally heard.
and,
try a trial by written declaration. You get to refute the ticket in writing. Cite facts. Dont accuse the officer of being an idiot. Refer to the officer as sir or maam. Show utmost respect for the officer. The officer must submit a written declaration as well.if the officer doesnt submit a declaration, case is dismissed by default.
Make sure you include in your declaration that if the court still finds you guilty, that you request traffic school. yes, do this even if you have been to trraffic school in the past 18 months. A judge can still order you to traffic school. He/She will not be breaking the law (and neither will you) if he instructs you to attend school.
Note: officer gets paid (usually overtime to show up in court). He/she doesnt get paid for writing a written declaration.
Good luck

Re: Ticket...
Yeap traffic school! That's the way to go. Don't worry, a lot of blk and whts. are cracking down on us G owners. I got a speeding ticket a fews ago. Everybody was going about 55-50mph in a 40 zone. Usually on this road I go about the speed limit because of cops hiding out. But, since I went with the flow of traffic, about 62mph, the blk and wht. gave me the ticket. I already took traffic school, so I have to appear in court and with luck on my side, the cop shouldn't show up. Usually about 80% of the time, the cop doesn't show up. So, your ok!

GP1: Since I got a speeding ticket, and I want to ask for an extension, what happens if they ask why? What do I do in that case?

Re: Ticket...
Each time I've asked for an extension, I've told them either I'll be out of town (which I was suposed to be) on the hearing date or had a previous appointment (which I soemtimes had). Never really had a problem because the court clerks dont really care either way. One time, I went in on the date of the hearing and the court clerk simply told me not to ask for the extension, "officer _____ is on vacation". Case dismissed!
Good luck.
Good luck.
Re: Ticket...
if you are proven guilty, it is the court's option to offer driving school. It depends on the judge. Even if it is in your declaration that you request traffic school if found guilty, you still run the chance of the judge denying your request.
