Are you speaking of freeway cameras in the Phoenix area? Some "award winning" "first female reelected", "third female governor" put them in place here, she left AZ to be our Sec of Defense in January. Word is they are coming down! What a waste of taxpayer money!

I work for an online traffic school and these guys are bringing in the bucks! I think its stupid and an invasion of privacy. They are also programmed to find out of state plates...conspiracy?

I need to get one of those cool "e-glass" plate covers that blur when you flip a switch, but I can only find them for motorcycles

Cops can ticket you for anything over your plate that covers the "ARIZONA" now. I love that plate but the first time a cop is behind you, you're going to loose it.

thats why you turn it off unless your by the camera Then you can see everything clearly.

I had to elongate the holes in my plate so I could keep my G35driver frame

Actually, Janet Napolitano is the Secretary of Homeland Security. Robert Gates is still Secretary of Defense...a holdover from the Bush Administration.

I agree they suck, but how is it an invasion of your privacy? You're on a public road.

The good news is that they lowered the fine and it has to be a secondary offense. They can't pull you over strictly for the plate frame. I'm keeping mine college plate on until I finally get pulled over.

The bad part is those tickets dont give you any points on your record, therefore, you dont learn your lesson. You can speed as much as you want aslong as you have the $$$ to do it. has any one here got an AZ ticket?

My wife got one about a week ago. I showed it to her and then said I'd take care of it.

No ticket ever from these lame cameras and plan to keep it that way.
someone also said they actually run video taping as well, now thats an invasion of privacy IMO.

Phil thanks for noting the actual "correct" new position for Janet.

I can't believe these things go out all the way West to Buckeye. That seems a little extreme.

And I think I read somewhere that they can record video. But *at time of article* storage wasn't in place for that size of data. Maybe right now they are just always on. It also talked about combining the cameras with DPS's new license plate scanner.

I found a website that states if you register your car to an LLC they cannot ticket you. I don't know how true it is but I have an LLC so I'm going to give it a try

I almost want to get one on purpose, so I can get in line when it's class action suit time.

These cameras are ridiculous! I thought CHP was bad, this is highway robbery.

And what's with the 55mph speed limit? Who drives 55mph on the freeway? The way the highways are designed out here are nice though, lots of sexy curves and banked turns.

On my way to work the other day I saw a freakin SUV patrol car, posted on the side of the road with this huge black pole sticking from the top of it, it had a camera on it! You would never see that where I came from, how lazy is that?
