Brembo Brake Squealing

Just a note to let everyone know I have contacted Infiniti Consumer Affairs over the brake squealing problem. After 2500 miles and the squealing still present, the dealer turned my rotors and changed the pads on my 2003 G35 6MT. The noise was completely gone but came back after about 400 miles. Consumer Affairs said this was a characteristic of this particular car and I told her, "yes it was but it was a bad characteristic" and Infiniti needed to come up with a solution. I agreed with her that the brakes worked fine in stopping the car but that it was really embarrassing to have people stare whenever I was coming to a stop because of the loud squealing.

This can not possibly be a good advertisement for Infiniti to have their new Car of the Year sounding like a 20 year old clunker.

Consumer Affairs said they would get with their tech people and call me back. I will let everyone know the outcome.

Re: Brembo Brake Squealing

This is the nature of a 4 piston or even a 2 piston caliper brake. It doesn't matter who makes it, it will all do the same thing. And believe it or not it's not the brake dust, debris, etc. that's causing it to squeal, it's the air that gets trapped between the rotors, pads or calipers itself. Yeah, that's what I said, I couldn't beleive it either. In the article I read (I forgot which one) 2 different independent test on several multi piston brakes. They found the same problem with each and everyone of them. After extensive research and test both concluded that the reason for the squealing was the air getting trapped even when driving at low speeds. I didn't finish reading the article, but they explained further on how they arrived at this conclusion. Again this is something that I just read I don't know how true this research is.

It would probably be easier and less time consuming to just swap out the pads with something from the aftermarket.

Try some ceramic pads. They're virtually dust-free and very quiet. And they're easier on your rotors too.
