18" tire lifetime and suggestions on replacement tires

my car is about to hit 20k mi and my tires feel bald.. a spirited turn gets them chirping and the slip light on, also launching is difficult and a hard 1st to 2nd gear shirt will spin my rear. now i know its time to get new tires, but my father and i got into an arguement and he accused me of doing donuts and burnouts (which i dont). sure i may speed, but i never spin the tires.. what i want to know is, what is the average lifetime of a set of 18" tires in the amount of miles?

also, i plan on going shopping for a new set of tires.. can anyone suggest an affordable buy thats also good in performance (im a college student and i cant be spending a ridic amount on performance tires, yet i do want a good set so that i can take my car to the strip)

my stock 18s lasted me 33k the outer and middle still had meat left but the inside was bald due to the feathering. I think if they wore evenly I could have gotten another 3-5k out of them.

My car's original rears lasted about 16K, and they were bald.
I'm still running the original Michelin Pilots up front at 18K mi., and they have plenty of tread left.

I ended up replacing the rears with Good Year Eagle F1 GS-D3. Really strong performing tire, with a slightly better treadlife than the Pilots.

I replaced 2 times & found the best buy to be Dunlop Direzza DZ101's. About 50-60% of the OEM. Give up a little performance but will last, as long as you keep up alignment

Your mileage is in the average range. Nothing low about it.

I like the direzza once I replaced the fronts as well. Ran just the DZ101 on the rear to pass inspection but the VDC came on all the time. Swapped out the fronts to the DZ101 out and am so much happier. Tire Rack shows them for $123 and $139.
