Re: Tire pressure

I run my Coupe at 35 all round. Any harder and I lose traction.

Re: Tire pressure

It depends on how fast you want to drive.. Up to 40 psi should be ok if you drive slow (< 80 or so). At faster speeds it's safer to be at 35, but you'll get better gas mileage with more tire pressure.

Re: Tire pressure

The sticker on my Sedan with Sports Suspension indicates
30 psi or 210 kPa front and rear. I run 32 psi all around.

Re: Tire pressure

MNDZA..... i HIGHLY recommend that you get snow tires, or all seasons on a new set of wheels for the Midwest winter.

The pilot sports are way too dangerous on the snow.
It is not worth the risk. Please do yourself a favor and spend $1200 and be safe this winter. (unless you have a beater car ).

Re: Tire pressure

Dave, shader7 has the 18's with the michelons, the sticker says 35 on the coupe's door, but from my experience with japanese manufacturers, is that they like to use a lower tire pressure, As indicated by your sedan's 30. That is just way too low for my likes. 32-33 is perfect for the sedan i think.

I would like to run 37 or 38 psi but, gsedanman recommends 35 and he is strong about this decision (and a very knowledgable person), so that is why i picked 36....

Re: Tire pressure

Thanks for the info RamboRami.

I ran 36 psi then 34 psi in my tires for a while but the ride on our excellent CA freeways and secondary roads was almost punishing. What's your opinion on running 32 psi in hot months and 34 psi in the colder months? Wouldn't the hot tire pressure end up nearly the same? I think I'll start checking my tire pressure hot, but continue setting it cold.

Your thoughts?

DaveO

Re: Tire pressure

no prob, hmm, the average hot pressure difference probably wouldnt be as much 2psi (34-32=2) when comparing your california weather hot/cold heh
Yeah 36 is a bit much for normal AS tires for every-day driving. Besides, dont forget that the front tires get about 1-1.5 psi warmer than the rear tire's psi under normal driving conditions (because of brakes)
Just go with whats comfortable, 32 seems like the way to go

under inflation will unevenly wear out the tires, as will over inflation

Re: Tire pressure

Thanks for the replies. I've experimented with pressures from 32 to 38psi, and settled on 35 the day I posted this thread. I wanted a few unbiased opinions. My criteria was mileage vs. rear hop on this one particular freeway on-ramp bump onto 580W. The bump is in a big, sweeping corner in the middle of a very long on-ramp stretch.

Anyway, mileage city/hwy at 35 for me is about 17/26, and the hop is pretty well minimized, without much of an improvement dropping down to 32.

Anyone know how the tire-wear patterns are at 35?

Re: Tire pressure

well, considering 35psi is STOCK, you will get more wear on the inside part of the tires because of aggressive camber... that can be taken care of when you get your tires rotated (from left to right and right to left only, wheels will need to be removed and remounted and rebalanced)

Re: Tire pressure

I prefer to keep it at a minimum of 35. Any less, and I tend to notice uneven tire wear. Most tire shops set passenger cars to 32 for comfortable riding.

Solo2 track days are a different story... I haven't dialed it in yet, but somewhere around 40-42 front, and 38 rear seems to work well.
