Time for Tires - advice needed

Surprise, tires for my '05 Coupe 6MT are quite expensive. I've discovered that I can save a good bit of money by going with at 35 sidewall height instead of a 40. Go figure. Any reason why I shouldn't do this other than ride harshness and some minor speedometer issues?

Thanks in advance!

It's gonna look funny with the 35 series tire because of the extra fender-wheel gap. Unless yur car is dropped an inch and a half.

New Shoes...............

You need to have the correct height tires on your G
so your speedOmeter will read correctly. Give the
Tire Rack a call, these guys are very knowledgeable
as to what size shoes you'll need......and there prices
are very good. Don't go "cheap" when selecting tires,
it's better to buy good tires like Michelins.

Thanks for the advice...

Just taking a $1,400 hit for tires hurts! I've owned whole cars that cost less than that. Shoulda asked what they cost before I bought the car I guess...

For an everyday performance street tire, General Tire's Exclaim UHP have been getting really good reviews and the BMW E46 guys love them. Even on M3's. They are on Tirerack and you could probably get a full set for under $600 shipped to your door. Btw, they are made by Continental.
