Question Hankook W300 18" Tire Size selection... help!

Hi all,

For all those coupe owners that run Hankook W300's on 18" rims, just wondering what tire size you guys have been running on the fronts?

The reason I ask is because the W300's only come in 225/40 (diameter: 25.09), 235/40 (25.40), and 245/45-18's (26.68).

Our stock fronts are 225/45-18 (25.97).

The 235/40's would be closer to stock diameter size, but with the draw back of running a wider tire in the winter, while the 225/40's would be slightly too small.

Opinions? Experiences? Any help would be very much appreciated... thanks in advance!

In the same boat and have the same question.. Anyone? Even with the 235/40/18, they are 2.6% fast (25.4" vs. 26.1" diamerter) since my stockers are 225/40/19. Would that mess up the VDC?

Same boat here. Last year I ran the Stock Michelins on the front, and it was okay. I am looking at some all seasons for the front for this winter, unless I can get a reasonable price on some front snows.

Hey Fellas,

I ended up getting 235/40's for the fronts as I felt that 225/40 would be too small. So far haven't had any problems with VDC, but also haven't tried them in snow yet.

Good luck!

Hey Quiesco, thanks for the update. I think I am going the same route. Found a guy local that wants $180 for the fronts and $195 for the rears which isnt much more than what TireTrends wants. Any better deals out there?

Hey Mike,

You should give www.Tires23.com a call. Got my set for $840 incl. taxes + install, which works out to be a little cheaper than your quote I believe. The only problem is that the place is in Mississauga, and you have to call ahead for them to order the tires at times.

Happy shopping!

Well I got the new snow shoes put on. Not sure how it worked out but they only ended up charging me 175 for the rears and 164 for the fronts so after weights, balance and install it came to just under $800 after taxes so I am pretty happy. Add $500 for the used OEM 18"s I picked up and the winter tire package ran me $1300. A little much for winter's I guess but my take is if you spent all the money on a car because you like how it looks and drives, why be forced to sacrifice that for 4 months.

Anyways I got a Q for you Quiesco since you got the same rubber. How did yours get mounted? The tread pattern looks directional to me but the way they set mine up the treads are going the opposite direction on either side of the car. Does that sound right?
