Winter and stagger?

Hi guys. I spent hours looking through all the posts... It seems like some people see no issues with a non-staggered setup for winter tires and other think it will screw up the VDC.

I am debetatting between 225/55 R17 all around or to use 225/50 (front) and 235/50 (rear)

Thanks!

My sedan came with non-staggered 17" and now I have staggered 20's with no problems.

As long as you keep the overall diameter as close as possible (~0.3" or less) you should be fine.

I used two different tire brand/model stock size on my 2004 coupe in the past (michelein pilot front, dunlop in the rear) and the car was undriveable.

I bought a used winter setup from a g35 coupe owner, 4 tires of the same size...I will see in a week or two how it drive, guys said he had no problems.

For the winter, I run 18" Dunlop M3 winter tires non-staggered all around. I didn't have a problem this past winter although it was pretty mild. If you take it easy driving during the winter, I don't see any negatives about this setup.

No problems here running non staggered for winter on my G coupe. I have even been in some bad skids and regained control very nicely using DM3.

I just put these on yesterday and holy **** do these suck compared to my summer rubber. I definitely notice the difference. Even in 1st gear, if I go for a quick launch (and I'm not even talking about flooring it) the slip light comes on and I can't take off like I can with my summer tires. But at least they'll keep me safe when the snow does come. I keep hearing these Dunlop M3's are the best winter performance tire out there, so I'm taking that into consideration. But the handling is WAY different. I'm just shocked, that's all. It's worse than a driving a Camry. This is my first set of winter rubber in a RWD vehicle, so I guess this is how it goes. Bummer.

I got 225/45/18 all around for $950, mounted and balanced, fyi.

Rather than start a new thread, I figured i would ask in this one. Are the dunlops the preferred winter tire on the G coupe or would I be OK going with some 17" 2003 Z wheels and 225 blizzaks up front and 245 blizzaks in the rear?

That's how it seemed to me - almost everyone uses the Dunlop M3's. The Blizzaks are good, but they're more of a snow tire than a winter performance tire. They don't ride as smoothly or handle as well as the Dunlop M3's.

i used snowsport 210's for 3 winters 215/60 x16 on coupe all 4 with no problem

am using M3's 225/60 x 16 this year and will see how they go.

put direzzas on this summer. and had a slip problem for the first 500km. sure you M3's will grip better as they wear a little
