work vs-xx,Pricey rims v. cheaper rims

I want the work's and i expect to spend 4g's. Now my question is what am i getting for 4g's. All i need is the spoke pattern, rivets, lip, and black. I only want rims for the sheer look.

Do you know of any rims that are cheaper but look similair. What do volk's give me over say an AXIS supermesh? I highly doubt the rims will be seen by car aficionado's who know how much they cost.

So over all what do you get out of having the work's? Not saying anything is wrong because the tire is #1 or 2 on my list and i've budgeted 5k, just need to know i can't get looks for cheaper

VS-XX is a 3 piece wheel and has better overall quality than an Axis wheel. There is nothing wrong with getting the Axis supermesh wheel but if you already have $5k budget, why not go for the best. I love my VS-XX's!

main difference is the quality of the construction of the wheel. cast vs. forged. forged wheels are lighter and stronger. the process to make them results in a more expensive wheel

another issue with the axis wheels are that they don't make as many offsets as work or volk. just the right offset is important.

AND

tires will also make or break your budget. invest in a good set of tires. nothing worse then spending all that money on rims only to find out you had better grip with the OEM tires.

^^^Yes, that is a great point. With Work's you can get custom offsets. Work builds your wheels to your specs. With Axis you can't. There is such a huge difference in quality also. You have to see both wheels in person to know what I am talking about.

basically, like many things in life, you get what you pay for...

if it weren't for the VS-XX, i'd probably gone with these lexions...

cheap,
made by rays so u know they're good quality,
nice lip,
good sizes and offsets...

HOWEVER, they're not 3 piece (they're one piece cast, i believe), so they're probably heavier, and they don't come in 9.5 and 10.5 sizes...
oh and one more thing... VS-XX's have more BLING factor

Hexxum i need to know what your wheel set up and suspension is. I've always wantd black rims on the CB, but until i saw your pictures i had no clue what brand to go with.

Ralph bragging rights to whom? I won't be online bragging and don't go to car meets. At the bar am i going to tell a random person i have 4g rims from work???

Heaviness doesn't matter, the car isn't that fast anyhow

bassholic, any car nut will know just by looking at your ride that you're running high dollar wheels. Essentially, what I meant is that the "bragging rights" are implied.

If a car has rims it's the first thing that catches my attention. Gotta check to see if this guy is legit.

Work/Volks you get cause you want strenght, light weight, and quality. Also the way I see it is if you're gonna do something, do it right.

The knock-offs are just for looks. If your not really that into cars and just want something nice for the chicks then by all means get knock-offs. Were not michael schmucher and the extra weight won't be a big deal.

If you're a serious car nut I don't see how you could get anything but forged. Sure the girls love it, but I'd spend the extra dough for me. It's just a good feeling knowing you're rolling on some volks/work wheels.

Like someone said before, DO NOT skimp on the tires. It's the most important part of your car. (maybe brakes... ehh who needs brakes)
