Chromed stock rims

I may have asked about this before but I'm still somewhat puzzeled. A lot of people seem to have chromed stock 18" and I think they look awesome but dont' understand where they come from.
I understand they are usually "swapped" from the dealer for aproximately $800 but where does he get them from? Are they from infiniti meaning they carry the full infiniti warranty? Or are they from some shop that the dealer works with meaning they probably don't carry a good warranty.
I can't find out any urls for info on these on infiniti's webpage or elsewhere. A place called www.g35accessories.com used to carry these with a warranty but now they are mia.
I'm just wondering if any of the people who have these rims know excatly where they came from and what their warranty is. Did they dealer agree to fix them if there is a problem? Thanks..

Re: Chromed stock rims

My stock wheels were chrome from the dealer and I was told the wheels (and anything else purchased with the car) had the same warantee as the car itself.

Infiniti simply sends the original wheel out to be chromed and then charges you a premium.

If you bought your car originally with chrome wheels the wheels should be under the same warantee as the car. The problem is that almost any problem will be considered "wear and tear" and therefore not covered.

Bottom line: if you want to chrome your stock wheels take it to a reliable wheel place instead of the dealer and save yourself some of the mark up.
