Exclamation Tires size and Handling

Hey all Tires/suspension gurus,

I wonder if have the same tire size on rims of different width front and back, will that affect handling?

I.e. having 245/45/18 on a 18x8 rim in the front; 245/45/18 on a 18x8.5 at the back.

Indeed, I usually see people stretching the tire more in front in order to have a stiffer sidewall in the front for better steering response; but I am not sure if there is any major downside to doing 245/45/18 all the way around with 18x8 rims at the front and 18x8.5 rims at the back.

Please shine some light =)
