Camber Kits
Camber Kits
Okay, I just installed my Volk SF Winnings, PIXS are below on this forum. Looks like I now need a camber correction kit as the rear wheels are butterflying quite a bit. I guess they are out of camber. I do not know the technical terms. Sorry.
Besides the Stillen Camber Kit, is there another one out there that will do the job for less $? If so, can someone point me in the right direction. By the way, I have Volk 19's and Eibach Pro Kit.

Re: Camber Kits
Go to the motors section of ebay and do a search for G35, look through all the pages till you find the camber rods they are on but it now for $219.99. Thats $200 cheaper than Stillen
Re: Camber Kits
the guy/company that makes that camber kit is frequently on my350z.. the post about the camber kit and traction arms is here:

Re: Camber Kits
lsdunique is his name on my350z, they are a great product at a great price, i have a set and they drastically helped my camber, BUT, you probably wont be able to get it exactly back to spec, im off on one side but its very close, he also has a traction bar kit that might help but i didnt get it.

Re: Camber Kits
Sorry for the dumb question. Did you get your car aligned? If you did, take a look underneath your car. Check the 2 ecentric bolts for camber and see if it is max out. If not, the alignment shop couldn't max it out cause you have toe issues. It's better to have a bit of camber than having your car toe in.

Re: Camber Kits
The 'Traction Bar' (aka Toe Bar) he also sells will take care of that.

Traction bar is exactly what it is.... a traction bar (G manual calls it a radious bar). I had this on order until he told me it was for very very and finally very slight adjustment. From my understanding the traction bar would have not brought my car to spec with my desire camber I wanted.
Anyways the stock toe adjustments have nothing to do with the traction bar.
I'm posting this, cause I don't want you guys to spend extra $$ and be disappointed.
Nutty: I fixed the toe problem by increasing my camber, yet I'm still within factory spec. I really wanted my camber to be set at -1 or even -.6 rather than -2.1.

From my experience in both designing and maintaining race cars …

I'm not sure what you mean by "Traction bar is exactly what it is.... a traction bar".
The term 'Traction Bar' is commonly referred to in leaf-spring suspension applications. It is essentially a buffed-up piece of the existing trailing-arm that minimizes toe-in/out condition under high load (i.e. full acceleration), which can cause wheel hops or skating, thus, the term ‘Traction’ Bar. It has also been loosely used for multi-link trailing-arm suspensions like the 350Z/G35, but more correctly the ‘Trailing Arm’. It is however not technically incorrect to refer to it as the ‘Traction Bar’, since it also serves similar function here as a way to control toe movement.

The stock toe adjustment has everything to do with the ‘Traction Bar’ again more correctly the ‘Trailing Arm’. By adjusting the bolt or mounting point as directed in the service manual, it changes the effective length of the ‘trailing arm’ and in term alters the toe. The ‘Traction Bar’ discussed here achieves this by literally shorting/lengthening itself and has far more range of adjustability. It should also be noted that adjusting the length of the ‘trailing arm’ affects more than just the ‘toe’, as it also changes the ‘caster’.
Will this solve the toe issues that some of you are having? Not necessary. It may be possible that the car has been lowered significantly where the limitation of the suspension geometry has been reached without relocating the mounting point of the arm, regardless of how much adjustability the bar has.
The vendor told me it is good enough for approx. 1-degree of adustment. Not much, but enough to at least bring it closer to spec. It was prudent of the vendor to not give hasty recommendation for the 'Traction Bar' due to it's limited usefullness, but I think he's actually scaring away those who can benefit from the *slight* improvement. Then again, your milage may vary, so DO NOT take my word for it!

Re: Camber Kits
hey wussup clint.
First of all, I think my post may have came off wrong way. If it appeared that I was flaming on you, that was not my intention.
Instead of debating, maybe you can answer some questions for me.
In the picture, I’ve labeled all the stock eccentric bolts that corrects the camber and toe (can't believe I was able to take a picture of the bolts and bar in one shot) and the traction bar or whatever we want to call it. The camber adjustment is pretty straight forward. Looking at the stock toe adjuster, you mentioned that it will extends the traction bar length. I still can't figure out how it will actually extend the traction bar or trailing arms length by looking at the picture. Please explain. To me the bolt will just move the tire left to right, like if it was the steering arm in front of our car.
I firmly believe that the vendor's traction bar can bring me to spec at my desire camber, but didn't like the fact it will change the caster characteristics of the rear tires. To me it seemed like a bandaid fix. Yet a good bandaid fix to save tire wear.

Hey Wreck,
No worries and no offense was taken ... it takes a lot to upset me.
I was simply trying to inform.
Now to answer your question. I've mocked up a quick 'n dirty illustration of how toe adjustment for our cars actually work as an attachment. You'll have to excuse the cruelty of the diagram, but I think you'll get the idea. A picture is worth a thousand words they said.
Lastly, I just wanted to reiterate that the 'traction bar' may or may not fix toe issues for some of you. It also loads the suspension differently and sometimes that's not a good thing.

Re: Camber Kits
Cool
and I love pictures.
I totally agree with the picture you've posted up there, except it doesn't show the caster changes when the bar gets shorter or longer. And that is how LSD's traction bar works, but our stock G has no adjustments on our traction bar.
I guess I'm just stating now that our stock G Toe adjustment is different than LSD's solution. Also I'm I thinking the stock G Toe adjustment does not increase/decrease the caster…much.
