$75 would be enough of a reason for me to pick the Goodyears over the Bridgestones in this case.

Was $1076 total a good price for s03's?

2 x 285/30/20
2 x 245/35/20

Re: S03 PP vs Eagle F1 GS-D3

I just put on the Goodyear's F1 GS D3 over the weekend. Stock 18" rims - went with 275/40 rear and 245/40 front because it winds up being the same diameter so the VDC isn't affected.

AWESOME tires. IMO they put the Pilot's to shame. Grip just as well dry as far as I could tell. Haven't taken it to 10/10th's yet, however. Much deeper tread and combined with higher treadwear rating I am positive they will exceed the 19K I got out of my Pilots. Far superior ride - much quieter, less tire noise, much better over bumps and irregular pavement. Car does not rattle and bounce as much as before. Feels like it turns and steers just as nice though. Should be 10x better in the rain too based on the tread design, but I have to wait for it to actually rain here in So Cal first. Tread design looks awesome too and the tires fill out the wheel wells better because of the larger size and protect the wheels from possible curb rash better also. With the $75 rebate from Goodyear it will wind up costing me just under a $1000 mounted and balanced (from Tirerack.com).

probably for the last 6 years or so this tire calculator has been a lot of help. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html.

I thought the stock tire size on the 18" rims were 45 series tires? Do the Eagles run bigger then michellin?

no ur right the michellins are 45 series but i am running a 19 inch rim so i was gonna go with a 35 series tire to keep the same diamiter. As far as the VDC staying correct how much difference is need bewteen the front and back rims?

Let me confirm - STOCK 18x8" rims? And you put 275/40R18 F1s on? You might want to recheck that since the 275s require atleast a 9" rim. You're running 1" smaller rim than minimum recommended on that tire. You risk ripping that tire right off the rim on a hard turn.

my point exactly - that's way too wide.... for an 8" rim.... I bet it looks very bulbous.... not to mention that safety concern.... Do you have any pics....

Re: S03 PP vs Eagle F1 GS-D3

If you check here and on FA there are a number of old pics of a 350Z with 275 on the stock 18" rims. And several other postings of people who did it. Checked with Discount Tire, Tire Rack and the Big O that installed the tires (from Tire Rack) and everyone said the same thing: 1) they fit fine; 2) won't get max performance out of the tires because rim needs to be 1" wider; 3) no safety issues at all, particularly if not racing the car.

Tires fit fine. I've cornered hard, including sliding the rear several times already - no problems. Tires are not going to come off the rim. As for the look - well that is personal. I hate the all rim/no tire look and thought the 225's looked like crap because they were too narrow for the rim. The 245's look fine on the front, but since I didn't want to have the same size front and rear and take a chance messing with the VDC (more worried about screwing that up and creating a warranty issue) I went to the 275 in the rear because with both a 40 series, it gives the same overall diamter front and rear as stock. The tire looks bigger than stock, yes, but whether you consider it bulbous is in the eye of the beholder. It's not like it is bulging out of the fender or anything strange - it just looks different.
