Did I get USED tires on my new car? Look...

Call me paranoid....

We just picked up a good deal on an end of year 06 that was "new". The dealer didnt have what we wanted so they shipped the one we wanted from a few hundred miles away (from a different dealership).

Yesterday I was washing the wifes car and while cleaning the wheels noticed that there wasnt a horribly large amount of tread on the tires. Either a)those specific tires just happen to have shallow tread or b) Im not paranoid and they gave us a used set of wheels/tires off another car.

Here is what we have. This is the best I could get in the garage...

How does that compare to yours when they were brand new?

Wow thats suprising. I have Nitto 555s on the M3 and they have about 2k on them now. There is literally 2x more tread.

hard to tell from the pix but it looks like they might be a bit used. the tread is too close to the wear warning marks for comfort... i could be wrong though.

no way my stock potenzas were at 9/32" brand new. these things have very low tread depth brand new. if you wanna put your mind at ease, go to a dealership and check the stock tires.

yeah, my stock 19'z are just as shallow. that's another reason they have such a low tread wear rating (200 i believe). i don't know why they decided to go with that line of tire. bridgestone tires are good but there are better all seasons out there in that size that could've been used for oem's. i guess lowest bidder seals the deal.

When the wife gets home tonight I will measure the depth. They sure do look worn to me. But if its shallow tread to begin with, who knows.

Is there a specific place on the tire I need to measure the tread?

They had to get them to you somehow. j/k

They look kind of low, just check the, I don't know what you call it but I call it "canyon" closest to the middle with a tread checker thing. I found a tread checker at Wal-Mart connected to a digital air pressure gauge, look for one of those.

Looks used in the first one, new tires tread depth is 10/32, no matter the type of tire. Did the dealership have it driven to them or shipped? How many miles on it when you purchased? All these may play a factor in it being "used". The G's tires do not last very long, 15k - 20k average. I have 17k and they are in need of replacement

No you got Bridgestones...................

For a quality ride like the Infiniti G you should expect better quility rubber
than Bridgestones! I don't believe the wear code on those tires is 200!
It's more like 140 and that's what came on my son in laws G sedan. It might
not hurt to tell the salesman that sold you the G you'd like a better tire
since you spent all that $! Michelins or Goodyears
