Zero dust brake pads?!

Has anyone tried EBC (I think that's the right name) brake pads, or any other brake pads that created less brake dust? I'm getting a little tired of cleaning my rims every 20 miles! I did a search on this topic, and all I could find were A) people like me bitching about brake dust; or B) advising about on how to clean it off. Has anybody found a remedy for preventing/reducing it altogether? Appreciate all replies!

Re: Zero dust brake pads?!

I hear ya on the dust. Although It's been so cold here lately I doubt the pads have worn at all.
It seems to be the price we're paying for having real good stoppers. They'll wear out fast too, by feedback I'm getting.
When it comes time for replacements, I'll see if Infiniti has a better (cleaner) sub. or go aftermarket. But I suspect nothing else will be as effective as these dirty guys.
Until that time all you can do is keep a good coat of wax on them. Someone said they had better luck with 'Zaino', which I'm going to try.

Re: Zero dust brake pads?!

hm...that's what I am thinking...not too long ago I read in some other post that there was a guy "Armor all" his entire tires and complained about the tires had no grip?!!:P Isn't Zainoing your brakes the same dangerous idea?

Re: Zero dust brake pads?!

Just came back on, sorry guys. No Stalker, MY BAD!. I made my post sound like you should Zaino the brakes. NOT> just Zaino the rims, so that the dust will come off easy. And I suggested Zaino cuz I think It'll last longer.
Zainoing the brakes would definitely destroy brake effectiveness.
(I'll be sure and reread all my posts from now on! Sorry for the confusion, guys .

Hey, 'ZFREAK' !!! Cool designation.

The Zaino would make your brake pads last forever though! LOL!

Re: Zero dust brake pads?!

No aftermarket pads available as yet. But I tried something called Wheel Wax this weekend, I'll let you guys know how it works.
Have to say though it was as smooth as glass and slick when I finished putting the stuff on.
BTW, the instructions said you can apply to a DIRTY wheel, I cleaned mine first though.

Re: Zero dust brake pads?!

Having tried numerous pads on previous modded domestic cars- everything from cryogenically treated (frozen) pads, track pads, aftermarket and OE, I only found two I ever liked on the street- OE and Raybestos QS (Quiet Stop). The OE's usually dusted, like our G's do horribly, but stop very well. The Raybestos is a Ceramic-based pad which means A) it dusts LESS (not dust -free, but being ceramic based there is less, and what there is is a very light gray-almost white) and B) stops equivalent to OE-no better or no worse.

If and when Raybestos QS pads are available for the G35, I will definitely try a set.

Re: Zero dust brake pads?!

I've had EBC greenstuff (kevlar) pads on an Audi A4 for 35,000 miles. They're fantastic. Better feel and braking (especially in cold) than the OEM pads. They will also last twice as long as the 20,000 miles EBC claims. And best of all, going from constantly black wheels to NOOO! dust. I checked with EBC in England, as well as, TireRack and they don't have pads for the G35 yet.

Re: Zero dust brake pads?!

On my previous A4, I used Mintex Redbox pads. Very good wear, stopping power excellent, and little to no dust on my very pretty but PITA to clean 18's.

Haven't checked to see if they are available, but very reasonable as well. $45/pair.
