Opinions on OEM tire replacements
Hey guys, at 21k miles its time to replace the tires on my 19" OEM wheels. I have searched and searched on this forum, but I cannot find any clear information as to what sizes work best to improve traction/handling. I would like to increase the width slightly. I am looking at:
235/35ZR19 front
255/35ZR19 rear
These are for BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 Blackwall tires. Any opinions? I don't want to put anything bigger than 255's in the rear. I need to replace these tires soon so any help would be appreciated. THANKS!

Those will fit the rims, but your tire diameter will be off by a bunch. I think you can get a 245-35 on an 8 inch rim, but not sure if you can shoe horn a 275-35 on 8.5 inch rim. I think you need to go with a 245-35 up front and a 255-40 in rear. Maybe someone else knows more.
what sizes work best to improve traction/handling ?
Generally sizes have nothing to do with traction as the contact patch AREA is self adjusting* based on weight on tire and PSI inflation.
Contact Area stays the same, just shape changes as you go wider.
The higher the load index the higher up on the curve the slip angle starts to degrade so a stronger tire can improve friction at a higher G force assumming equal design and compounds.
The softest, fastest wearing tire will usually have the highest traction and handling.

Well after reading posts and talking to a few others I'm going to take a bit of a gamble and try: 245/35's in the front and 265/35's in the rear. I will try to post pics when these are on.

check www.tirerack.com and search under your car for an idea of what's available. Reviews are also on the site as are tech info on sizes, widths and wear ratings. I have ordered my last 2 sets from there with great service.
Did you consider 245 45 19 at all 4 corners? do you know if the speedo is measured off the front or rear wheels? The above size is often times much cheaper and you have a few more options
Dont get the KDW 2 if you want to stick with BFGoodrich. Get the KDW's not the 2's. You could run a 245-45-19 or 245-40-19. Also could do 245/35/19 in the back and a 245/40/19 in front. Its really personal preference i wouldnt run a 35 in the front though cause thats where the most pressure gets put on the tires is in the front def under braking
just put 245/35/19 & 275/35/19 Toyos on about a month ago. Fit great, way quieter than stock (2005 coupe). It's been discussed before on here...

So now we know you have a coupe...........
You could go with the 245/40X19s on all four corners and not have issues
with your spedo. The KDW's by BFG are good tires so you won't be
dissapointed 6 months after you install.......good grip & wear!
