costly mistake....
my coupe is less than 2months old and last week during the snow storm in the northeast, (Jersey), I slid into a curb...not really bad damage to my front rim...but scuffed the lip up pretty good. Dealer wants $900for a new one...found a couple of repair/exchange places but really don't trust quality or if they can match the factory finish...does anybody have any info or feedback ..also whats up with all the brake dust...any quality replacement pads out there? I'm new at this so please be patient with me ...

Re: costly mistake....
You will have to live with the dust. There is a trade off to get the braking performance which is the incredible amount of dust. On the wheel, try ebay to buy a single rim.
For all the new guys, click on Forum and then click on "FYI & DIY" and TSBs to get some info on your new G.

Re: costly mistake....
thanks for the feedback...I'll look into ebay...may just spring for the new wheel from infiniti...plan to do 4 snow tires on the OEM rims and go for either 18 or 19 chrome rims for the summer months...just wish I could find snows... everybody seems to be sold out of the correct sizes for the coupe!

Re: costly mistake....
thanks for the help...I was planning to buy a 330i coupe...but since i already had an I35, figured infiniti to be more reliable less expensive to maintain...well have to see...coupe is really nice car..just wish the tires and rims weren't so time intensive to maintain and keep ..need snows for sure

Re: costly mistake....
The downside to aftermarket pads is you probably won't qualify for the nifty 3yr/36k mi brake warranty program. You have to ask yourself which one you prefer... low-dust brake pads, or free brake pads.

Re: costly mistake....
Bill, thank you for the tip on the pads...something to consider..i wonder if infiniti would void my 3yr replacement warranty if i chose to change out the pads....liked the attached pic with this car looks real good in red and the wheels really make a big difference.....i heard alot of good things about the tire rack...but they just blew me off when i was looking for snowtires earlier this month....to little too late i guess in my case ...thanks again

Re: costly mistake....
you and a few others made a valid point regarding free replacement for the 3yr period...I wonder if infiniti will change out the pad style in the future to eliminate all the unseen problems that have occurred with the OEM pads. I've owned a few "high" performance autos in my time and with the exception of my mercedes coupe way back in the late 70's (pads lasted only 7,000 miles) never ran into such a bad dust problem...this was one main reason i decided against the bmw 330i...every one looked like they went thru a coal mine on the fronts anyway ...just doesn't make much sense in this day and age....should be able to develop a compound that has the best of both worlds performance and appearance too! thanks 2old4this

Re: costly mistake....
The late s 70's, really? I never had dust problems until the late 80's, and that was on replacement pads on a Ford F-150! I see a helluva a lot of cars with the "coal mine" front wheels these days, even cars that look like they are well maintained! And damn, what Benz was that on? And I will agree with tonke73, I have never had brakes this good, they stop with very little foot pressure, and stop "on a dime"!

Re: costly mistake....
I had a company car when i was employed with mercedes-benz ...it was a 74 280 coupe.....nice car but no way you could ever over-service it....pads and tires at about 7,000 miles.....i think the benz and porsche were the first beasts to unleash this curse on all of us clean wheel freaks....2old4this
