Wheel damage Question

I have a quick question. I have been thinking about going staggered but I am afraid because the roads by my house are not so good. Do you guys think a 10 inch wide wheel with 275/30/20 is more susceptible to damage(bending) than a 8.5 wide wheel with 245/35/20?

If you have an X you should run wheels and tires the same size all around.

He might as well sell it and get the rwd then.

Didn't one of the guys that did that do major damage to his G after losing control, and smashed it up a bit????

Why sell it. You get the benefit of running AWD in the winter and RWD in the summer.

Yeah, I think that one member damaged his car but that was not due to the pulling the fuse. Well I guess that it was but not in that sense.

I am positive it was my AWD and my vdc that saved my butt when I had to do an evasivive manuevre while driving through the mountains in the rain a couple of years ago, so that is why I am a firm believer of awd in the summer as well as winter .

Yeah I guess...to each their own.

Anyway, back on topic....I have no idea. I would think that the 10 inch wide wheel on a 30 series tire might be more susceptible to damage because of the lower profile tire. I could be wron. Just taking a stab at it.

Anyone else got some opinions?

I was at a local shop and was talking to the owner and he stated that he has more owners with 10 inch wide wheels bending wheels that 8.5 inch wide wheels.

The sidewall on both are nearly the same size so the protection should be about the same. Sidewall construction would be the only factor, and that depends on manufacture
