Tires: Wider & Taller?

It is almost time to replace the worn tires on my 05 G35X. The the OEM size is 215/55R17.
Other than having more selection by going to a 225/55R17, are there any advantages with the wider and taller tire in handling performance and ride quality?
For example, the Goodyear Eagle ResponsEdge comes in 215/55R17 and 225/55R17? Are there any advantages in getting the 225/55R17 over the OEM 215/55R17? Price difference between the two sizes is negligible.

TIA

well more rubber on the road will always give a better grip, but for the most part it comes to play in matters where itcomes to rolling fenders and what not or even going for either a fat or stretched look.

Has anybody else gone from a 215 to a 225 ?

and-

Is there any issues with doing so ?

I too am needing to replace my tires, and have found a number of tires in the 225 range that I would like to consider, that are not avalible in the 215's.
TireRack shows 33 tires availible in 215/55R17, 57 tires in the 225/50R17 size, and 60 tires in the 225/55R17 size.

...

I've compared all the specs, and the 225's have a 3/8" wide section width, 3/4" wider tread, are a 1/4" taller, have an additional 1/32" of tread depth, weight 2 lbs. more per tire, and change the revolutions per mile by about 1%.

The intresting thing to me is the load ranges increase from 94 to 97, which could increase the tread life, if there is less heat generated by the tire flex.

I also plan on purchasing the Goodyear ResponseEdge tires tomorrow unless someone here raises a RED flag.

I'm curious if anyone has considered going from 215/55R17 to 235/50R17 all around. It was suggested to me as a plus size on fountaintire.com. Compared the two using the tire calculator at http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp and it looks like there is a .23% diameter difference which doesn't seem bad at all.

Being that the 2005/2006 RWD's with the sport suspension come with 235/45/R18 I'm thinking that it wouldn't be a problem though I admit my knowledge of tires isn't the greatest. As I understand it, the only major difference is that there will be more rubber in contact with the road as the tires would be wider. There does seem to be more tires in the 235 range that interest me.
