Thanks for the warning

To the Original Poster;
Sorry. It seems you've been screwed, first by the guy who sold you broken wheels, then by TSW. I feel for you. I want to thank you for posting about your problem. I have been looking at wheels and considering some TSW's. No more. Even if your wheels were chromed after market, their response seems pretty poor.

On another note, since when is $300 too little to pay for a quality wheel? It seems some folks think you have to buy wheels that cost as much as the car to get something decent. I don't get it. Maybe I'm too old I remember the days of $39 Cragar's and nobody ever broke them either.

It is proven fact that the chroming process can affect the metallurgy/ heat treating of metals. Chroming is a heat and chemical process. You would be amazed at how much a temperature as low as 400 degrees F, can cause a weldment or casting to stress relieve. I have seen a perfectly flat (.010 inch) machined weldment weighing 600 lbs, come out of a powder coat oven (400 degrees 40 minutes), measuring as much .100 inch out of flat. So any type of post processing on wheels, can affect the structural integrity of a wheel. It really shouldn't be an issue, considering the number of chromed alloy wheels out there, with no problems, but every wheel is going to be a little different story, depending on alloy, structure, heat treat, etc.

this was my whole thought process with the whole situation...on all the different types of rims out there that dont have an issue from chroming.

I think you should cut your losses and go for better wheels bro. I mean if you borrow some money or get a credit card you can probly get a decent set of 19s from SSR for 1.5k or so. I know its money out but at least you can resuse your current tires and go for stronger lighter wheels thats more reliable.

i have already purchased a new one and its in the chroming state. The company that i am having it chromed at provides a lifetime warranty on the chrome and structure of the rim after the chromeing phase.

I've been saying the tsw's suck!!! Go with (reputable wheel companies )volk, OZ, etc. for your needs, not just companies that offer inexpensive wheels.
