Recommended Rim/tire sizes for coupe

Anyone have any recommendations on what rim/tire sizes for aftermarket i should be getting? for sure they will be 19" rims, but im debating 9 in front 9.5 in back, or will i be able to fit 10 in back? if i get 10 in back will i be able to fit 9.5 in front? will i be able to have 40 or 45 tires still? Also im not yet planning on lowering the car, but if i do it will be with coilovers and not more than 1" drop.

I don't think you'll be able to go 10" in the back with 40 or 45 series tires and lower the car without some fender modification. I also don't think you'll be able to go 9.5 in the front with a 1" drop. Someone with more knowledge/experience might disagree with me, I'm just reciting what I've read.

Re: Recommended Rim/tire sizes for coupe

no no no u deffently do not want to do that on a coupe. that would be very bad and it would throw of the VDC.
the coupe requares a stagered set up. You should have no problems putting a 9.5 in the front and a 10 in the back but u will not want to run a 40 or 45 series tire becuase that will throw off ur speedo and will also most likly not fit on a lowered G. You are best to run a 35 siries tire. i would recoment running this 245/35/19 up front and then run 275/35/19 or 285/35/19 in the rear. that will be perfect. good luck

Re: Recommended Rim/tire sizes for coupe

Ok so I've been talking to a few people and have finally decided that i would go with 19x8.5 with 255/35 in front and 19x9.5 275/35 in back. Potenza S03 would be tires of choice. Does anyone know what the XL means on the tire sizes on the bridgestone site?

Another question. For now, im NOT going to lower the car. Hypothetically, if I stick 255/40 275/40 on the wheels, other than my speedo, will anything else be off? It would be to fill the wheel gap a little without having to lower the car, to preserve a little bit more of the ride, and a little extra rubber between the metal and the asphalt (scared to bend rims). I know the ride height will be slightly higher. Anyone have input on this?

The car would look like a 4x4 with bigger tires. I wouldn't like that.

Re: Recommended Rim/tire sizes for coupe

Stock front diameter = 25.97"
245/35/19 = 25.75"
255/35/19 = 26.03" (not much difference)
255/40/19 = 27.02" (basically a .5 inch lift and about 5 % speedo error)

Stock rear diameter = 26.68"
275/35/19 = 26.58"
275/40/19 = 27.66" (another .5 inch lift in the back)

I'd be worried about the 255/40s rubbing the front fender. I think some guys with 20s and 255s had to change for that reason. The car will look slightly raised but the sidewall heights for stock and the 40 series mentioned above are identical.

Re: Recommended Rim/tire sizes for coupe

You won't really be able to fill the wheel gap. This guy just got 20's and he still has a nice gap all the way around.

It looks really good and it closes some of the gap, but there's still a gap. I don't think it'll be possible to completely close it off. Especialy if you don't drop it. But then you have the problem with tire rub if you don't roll the fenders. It's a tough choice. But as tentra mentioned, it'll close the gap a litle.
