diff between fender shaving and rolling

diff between fender shaving and rolling

i've heard these 2 terms used before but never knew the difference or if there is a difference.

any insight?

rolling...you're just bending the fender back.

shaving...exactly what it sounds like - you literally shave the fender.

both have their drawbacks.

if you don't roll it properly, the paint can crack.

there is the potential of rusting if you shave your fenders.

a clean roll is favoreable over a shave.

fyi - the front fenders are already rolled. look at those if you want to see an example. also, search accordfreak's DIY in the DIY forum for a guide.

how did they go about with it?

my vsxx are in
just waiting on the toyo backorder

I rolled mine. As long as you use a heat gun to keep the clear coat warm it works just fine.

The fronts have splash guards that attach to the fenders while the rears don't. Also, the front wheels turn which increase the likelyhood of rubbing, so they roll the fronts

+1. my BF rolled my rear fenders for me using this method and it came out great. just make sure whoever does it for you really takes their time with it.

my friend with his Z tried rolling his himself, and said he barly rolled it, but the paint started to chip and crack. what should he do now? continue the roll or just shave it, and seal?

crack on the inside or outside?
