Just had my rims, tires and suspention installed at a local shop suggested by members of this site. The rims are a +42 offset in the rear and i'm running a 275/35/19 setup in the rear. I am also using a set of Tein basic's. After the work was completed I was shown my car and asked if I liked the ride height. It was to low in the rear so the tech raised it some. A short while later I was told my car was done. I was told that it had been test driven and that I might experience some mild rubbing during heavy cornering or with people in the car and that I should let them know about it and they would correct it. I paid and was on my way home. Just a few miles into my ride the rear was rubbing like crazy. I called the shop and told them this. By the time I got home the side walls on the $500.00 rear tires had shredded pretty badly. What should I expect from the shop?

Did the shop tell you those offsets and tire size would work without rolling the rear fenders? If so they might do something for you.

is this a 10 inch rim? really 275 was pushing it...with +42 offset...wow....any pix of damage???

Yeah that is a common size but at that offset there is no question that the fenders needed rolled.

Yea they should be 10's if he is rubbing with a 42mm offset. Unless he used spacers.. Roll your fenders and you should be good.
Also your car will lower a little more once the the coilovers settel in.

sorry guys i made a stupid mistake, i meant 35 series was pushing it with a 10 inch rim....thats what he was running....like papa said, most people use 275/30 series, the 35 series might be the reason for the major rub, along with the +42 offset. +40 imo is the absolute limit with a 10 inch rim, and yet, that still requires feder rolling.
Roslim... can you post a pictures of the tires? I couldnt imagine the fenders tearing through them enough to do any damage then cosmetic.

Sorry to hear that man. Im assuming you ran either a 9.5 or 10 in the back cuz 8.5 +42 wont rub much.
The rear wheels are 9.5 which I bought from D2 Autosports who also selected the offset. The shredding does appear to be mostly cosmetic but the issue still stands of the shop sending me out the door when the car should have been raised more. I plan on going back to the shop Saturday to pick up my old wheels and bring this issue up. I am going to roll the rear fenders soon. I was even thinking of going 265/30/19 only if the shop will compensate me or replace the tires. I'll try to get pictures soon.

NO reason to down size tires if you are rolling your fenders i have 10inch rim in the rear with 275/40's with a 43mm offset. You should be fine




Wow, that looks pretty much like mine exept for the rolled fenders. Are you using a camber kit? Your tires are pretty close too, they don't rub?
You dont need to change the tire size. You need to roll the fenders and all the rubbing will be taken care of. If i was going to go with 19's again i would also have a 275/35/19 in the rear. Did the shop align the car after lowering it with the basics?

No. First off they don't have an allignmeny machine and they also suggested letting it settle for a few days then getting it alligned. By the way the shop is JE Import in Baltimore. The wheel issue is not there fault.
Get an alignment and have them bring the negative camber in a little bit, that will also help get rid of any rubbing (along with rolling the fenders)
