help: question about tires!

Having two different types of tires. For example: Bridgestone potenza's in the front and michellin ps2's in the rear.. what sort of implications would i face? such as ride quality etc.. Thanks in advance.

not sure exactly, but I know nothing good comes of it handling wise.

If you get similar quality tires, I'm sure the effect will be minimal.

I had Potenzas on my rears and Pilot Sports on my fronts about a week ago. VDC kept flipping out on me, and steppin gin to brake one of my front tires, causing the rear to step out, in mild curves.

I think it had less to do with traction differences and more to do with size differences. According to tire-rack, even though the tires are the same size, there was actually a 1/10" difference in the diameter of the tire.

There shouldn't be any issue, as long as the tires are similarly rated. The PS2's are far better tires than the Potenza's - and they are also louder - so your max benefit and driveability will be with a full set of PS2's...

i agree with ISM.... your not going to get the same ride quality anyhow.. and plus.. the tread wear isnt going to be the same. the potenzas are a softer tire, which means faster wear.

It's done all the time. No major issues if they are the proper size and rating. I have it now with absolutely no problems.

BTW - I have PS2's in front and TR1's in the rear - got tired of killing $400 tires in the rear every 3-4 months...

How do the Toyo's compare to the PS2 in terms of traction and noise?

What width do you run?

As far as I can see, with heating them up, etc, they work REALLY well. The noise level is about the same as the PS2's - you really can't tell any difference, and the traction is about 90% of the PS2's.

I have 295/30/19's on the rear.

I'm impressed enough to change the front out to them when they wear down, and I've been a Michelin guy for about 20 years, and tire shop owner in the past...that speaks a lot about them, I think.

I just spent $800 on just 2 PS2 tires, 295/35/18 and I was so close to trying the proxies for 1/2 the cost...

Next time I will - thanks for the review.
