How do I detect the nail in my tire

I keep getting low air pressure. Give it more air and after a week or so it drops back to about 28 and warning light is back on again.

Today I jack it up, put it in N and check around and see this. It's about 2-3 inches long.

My bro has a fixing kit he got at Pepboys for $11 which can be used 6 times and he only used it once. Fixed it and drove about 20 miles and air pressure still at good level.

So if you keep getting low air pressure, you know what you may get.

I had a screw in my winter tire, and I had to put air in it every day. Luckily I had my tires swapped a couple days later and they fixed up the tire for me for free.

it would be better to get it professionally patched rather than the plug

Where do you live? If you have a Discount Tire/America's Tire nearby, they will patch the tire for FREE!

don't you have to purchase tires with some kind of protection plan?

You mean to tell me that Discount Tire will patch tires which weren't purchased at one of their stores for free?

True, but a plug works very well especially just for a nail hole. On a cross country drive form Miami to 29 Palms California I got two flats (different tires) Luckily, I had a plug kit and an air compressor. One flat occurred at 3 am LOL. Both repairs works flawlessly and I never had to re-repair them again.

Yes, they will patch tires that weren't purchased at their store. Hard to believe, but true. I've gotten 2 tires (not purchased through them) patched there for free before. The last time was a couple years ago, SO they might have changed their policy. Best thing is to call your local store beforehand to inquire.

Wait, this thread doens't make sense...

The title said "How do I detect"

And then out of the blue he posts a pic of a nail in the tire.
