Staggered Sedan 20" 255/35 rear?

I notice that for a staggered setup of 20x8.5 and 20x9.5 most people run:

245/35 front & 275/30 rear

My question is, why 275/30 and not say, 255/35? Are they not wide enought? They seem to be better priced. Would it look funny 255/35? Stretch too much? Just curious... Would save around 100 a tire going 255/35.

Thanks for any feedback

the 255/35 would be a little stretched on a 9.5 I'd go with a 235/35/20 up front if you want to go with a 255/35 in the rear as the look of the tires will match.

looks like 235/20 isnt a very common size. Prices go up. Thats what I was trying to escape. Doesnt look like 265/35 is very common either. Hmm. Might have to stick with the majority.

If anybody is running 245/35 front and 255/35 rear, let me know.

the price on 275/30/20 isn't that expensive. I love the traction from these new vredstein gugliaro tires you should look into them

Im already cutting it real close with my 20x9.5 35mm offset in the rear, I don't want to bubble out to much...
