Today it was a little to cold to wash my G, so I thought just take it to the car wash! Right? So I went, got just the basic wash... No wax, no nothing, just wash the out side. Well, they cleaned it and did a good job. I looked over the car when they were done. I guess I just didn't look close enough. So I drove home and was wiping down the spots you get when you drive after your car has been washed.... And low and behold there it was looking me right in the face. My wheel was scratched all to hell. Grrrrrrr! I guess it's from the track your tire sits in when it goes through the car wash. So I went right back to the place and the manager said that he didn't know how this could happen but to get him a quote and we'll go from there. And yes, I did get it in writing... Man, I've only had Gwen (my car) for a week!! I really don't need this right now!

sorry you had to find out the hard way. there has been several people to say this has happed. just glad the manager was honest and willing to help.

deng,that's sad.that's why i either wash it myseft at home or pay them extra to hand wash it with a hose.don't ever let your car goes in that track...

 

Sorry to see that. I would recommend that you keep your wheel turned just a tad bit to the right as I do when I go to the wash. Never had a problem. New wheel 850 good luck....

 

sorry that happened to you...I thought the rim/tire size would be a problem at those types of car washes....Don't feel too bad...many of us already inflicted damage in one way or another....usually a curb...I did to my front rim less than a month of taking delivery...I since had it repaired...look in your area or go to your dealer they should be able to provide you with a service to repair the wheel for you...I had mine repaired and was similar damage to what yours looks like...I can't even tell where the fixed it except for the little rubber spikes that tore off the sidewall of my tire....anyway...LOL and stay away from the car washes!!!!! 2old 4this

Is this just a problem for the Coupe, or for all G35's? I think my sedans tires are a bit "higher" profile than the coupe, but I could be mistaken!

That's too bad, but at least the manager is willing to work with you. When I first got my G, everyone kept telling me "only go to brushless washes", so I've avoided them. There are several toucheless washes near me where you pay a few bucks and that arm contraption goes around the perimeter of the car and wets, soaps, rinses, and does a wet wax if you want. I feel much more comfortable in one of these if I don't have time to clean it myself. I've been trying to hit one once a week with the winter weather, because the ice, dirt, and salt build up pretty bad on the car during the week. After seeing what happened to you, I think I might even avoid the brushless washes that have the drive-through track. Good luck with the repair.

That's why I always take mine to the dealer who will gladly wash it inside and out for free! They even steam the floor mats! As an aside, do the dealers you guys bought your cars from offer this service?

 

Mine washes the car when you get any service done, and they don't do a bad job either, of course, no one does it like you do yourself, I don't know if they do it for a price any other time though.

the same thing has happended to my rims-- i now use a touchless car wash. Any tips/pricing on how to repair?

 

GR8TG35 - You replied to my post a couple of days ago for the same thing - scratched rim. I called Wheel Colllison Center ( nearest repair shop to me ). They offered repair or exchange but strongly recommended doing both wheels on one side as they can't purchase the right paint to assure a good match. Apparently because of the lead in the Japaese paint - it is illegal to purchase in the states. You mentioned a successful repair. Did you have just one rim repaired? Were you happy with the match? Where did you go if you don't mind?

I had my wheel repaired at my dealership (Circle Infiniti)...I was able to get a loaner and they repaired it on site...The actual place that did the repair is Alloy Wheel Specialists...

I'd bet they are cheaper than what I paid...but it was really
convenient for me to do it that way...I think the match was
excellent...I only had my front rim repaired...but bear in mind
my rash was limited to only the lip part of the rim..so no real
