Tire Pressure Light On....@%@#

2nd day having my car...this light comes on --> (..!..)

I hope that is the tire pressure light. (if not..i just made a fool of myself)

Anyways, my tires seem fine.

I don't feel like giong back to the dealership cause that is a trip. How can i fix this myself? or can i bring it to a mechanic that i know?

New to this car. Looks more complicated than my old honda so i don't want to screw around w/ it cause it might cost me more than what i would save trying to do it myself.

Does the tire look fine or did you actually check the pressure in all four tires? The light comes on when any tire is under 32 psi (I think... but it's something ridiculous like that)

Like dofu said, if one of your tires is off a little (I believe its 2 lbs or more), it will go on. Also, if the temps have dropped in your area the last couple of days, it will do the same thing.

It is important to keep up with your tire pressure during seasonal changes.....that is the time mine always lets me know the pressure has dropped.

Mine pop at 28 PSI. They have also popped when it was super cold outside, but went off after a few miles on the highway. I was on a cross country trip and stopped over in Wyoming. The previous day I had been in Texas (mega hot) and it was in the 20s in Wyoming.

Did you throw a pressure guage on them? You said 'they seem alright' but I have no idea what that means. I don't think you can visually determine whether your pressure is low - at least I can't.

Mine goes on all the damn time and it's annoying. I think I have a leak in my tires. Putting 35psi in the stock tires seem like a lot. I'm not sure what I should fill mine too :/

If it's a nail, find it and fix it before it rains. The water can soak in and corrode the nail. If you fix it after that, the rust might have already gotten to the metal in the tire, and that tire can shred on you.

Check your manual.

open your driver side door and look at the sticker located on the door jam. it will tell you what pressure you should be running. and if that doesn't help, check your manual also. usually it's filled with very useful information.

Go to Walmart and purchase a pressure gauge for 99 cents. Sure beats trying to guess which tire is under pressure.

everyone should have one of these in their cars and check their pressure every time they fill up. when you get out of your car take it with you. Set up the gas nozzle, check all your tire's pressure while it's filling. It'll take you longer at first, but once you get the hang of it you'll be able to do all 4 by the time you're all filled up.

It amazes me how people put so much time and effort into performance mods and constantly neglect one of the biggest factors in handling and acceleration.

I recently went throught TPS h@ll, so I completely understand.
Here's what I've learned in the last few months:
(Someone correct me if this is wrong)

-The light flashing is a problem with the sensor.
-Solid on is the tire.
-If they replace the valve stem with brass and not the factory metal, the light will come on.

I drove a full 1 1/2 years with aftermarket rims without having trouble. I had one taken off to be polished and the sensor went nuts. Later on when I had new tires put on, I was told about the sensor/stem problem.

Your dealership can hook up the car and codes can be pulled to determine which tire is having the problem. When I called one dealership about it they told me "We don't do that". I called another and they checked it the same day.

Do invest in a pressure gauge. I ignored my tires figuring the sensor was bad and later didn't know about a nail in it. (The next morning it was quite obvious....lol) Now I check pressure every fill up or so.

Can you say paranoid?

I agree everytime I get gas I check the tires especially with the weather starting to cool off. I have a digital display on mine which is even faster and they are pretty cheap at Target.

it gets hot out here in arizona and a few times i've found mine over 40psi on days when the temp is 115+.

i didn't let any air out because then i'd be riding low when they cooled off.

you guys think that's a good idea or no?
