Re: Sedan tires comparison

the Michelin 235/50ZR17 Pilot Sport A/S are truely great - check out www.tirerack.com for comparisons. On the stock rims, they can't be beat for street use.

Re: Sedan tires comparison

Oh. I didn't even check if there were acceptable sizes. Just to let you know, I did call Michelin last week to see if they were making the PS2 in a 225/40/19, and they said it will be released March 1st of this year. Maybe that is the same time the rest of the sizes will be coming out. Hopefully they will have a compatible size.

Wow
Thanks guys.
I live in Vancouver, Canada and planning to order
225/55 R17 Goodyear F1 GS-D3 in a US tire shop maybe near bellingham or so since they dont have that size in Canada.

Thanks a lot for all the info guys. Really appreciate it.

Re: Sedan tires comparison

Please remember before you attempt to flame me to read who I responded to. The question DID ask about A/Ss, so cool your jets.

Re: Sedan tires comparison

Ryoken, what about the UTQG ratings? Do they have any bearing or is it really apples to oranges between tire companys?

Re: Sedan tires comparison

I'm not sure where you got that I was flaming anyone--I wasn't. I was just responding to 2 replies in one. Apples to oranges. The government gives regualtions, but the tire manufacturers come up with their own rating system.

Re: Sedan tires comparison

Interesting its not semi apples to apples...don't you think. Would this also apply to speed ratings as well? Scary if it is true.

Re: Sedan tires comparison

I know the speed rating is a standardized test. I think the temp/traction grades are standardized, but I'm not sure. It's the wear rating that has no standard testing method or definition.

Re: Sedan tires comparison

I am really disappointed if the wear ratings are fantom numbers. Why have them at all then? Why not just use short shorter and shortest.

Re: Sedan tires comparison

Stupid gov't regulations that tell you what you have to do, but not how to do it.

It does bear some meaning across tires in the same line, and gives you a general idea. If you want to compare across brands, take a look at mileage warranties -- that would give you a closer indication of how they'll do than the wear numbers.
